Words

People come and people go
But rarely anyone stays forever
They say they care
They say the want to help
But when you need them the most
They seem to disappear
They say "I'll be there"
But in the end it's just a lie
For no one on Earth can physically or emotionally be
There every time you fall
They may feel sympathy
But sympathy won't solve your problems
Sometimes things will happen
That no amount of sympathy can cure
They may try to help
But they'll never understand
Not the way you do
So understanding won't do a thing
You can say anything you want
But words won't really help
While words may mend a broken heart
They can't keep it together forever
Words can't cure cancer
Or help the starving and homeless
So you can say all you want
But please just don't lie
Don't say it will be okay
When you don't know the situation
Don't say that you will be there
And then just fade away
