Slipping Away

In Poetry

I lay awake in the middle of the night
Engulfed in a sea of pain and suffering
Tears gleam in my sorrowful eyes
As I fight the urge to grab the knife

I have to stop
For her
I promised I would get better
But it's just so hard

Finally I can't fight it anymore
My hand reaches for the knife
I try desperately to hold back
But I no longer have control over my body

Stifling a scream, I begin
The knife slices deep into my skin
And I can feel the pain going away
I'm growing numb, dead inside

The numbness overcomes me
Drowning out everything
The only feeling that remains
Is the pain of the knife penetrating my skin
And even that is fading

I watch the crimson substance seep down my arm
But make no effort to stop the bleeding
The blood drips from my arm
In short, staccato drops

I can feel myself growing weaker
Slipping away from the cruel world
The world that never cared
The world where all I knew was sorrow

Hello!
Where do I even start? This was just amazing and it struck me on a personal level. It's kind of sad and depressing, but things like what's described are never happy. I think you captured that perfectly. You're amazing with this kind of thing, and I hope to read more like this. If you have anything in particular for me to read, shoot me a PM and I'll take a look at it. It would be my pleasure, so until then, keep up the great work and stay insane, all of the great writers are c:
