Paint The Sky
Someone has thrown paint all over the sky,
Upon this roof I sit waiting for it to dry.
In the centre of the horizon is a scarlet circular shape
Surrounded by stripes of pale roses and grapes.
Colors of mashed up orange-marmalade,
Are shattered across the drawing they made.
But the colors mix with water which is tipped,
Into the perfect picture a tear is now ripped.
I feel my cheeks heat up and I’m filled with dread
As I watch ashes and asphalt cover the crimson red.
Sadness grows within me as I realize it’ll never dry,
Bundles of depression will always return to the sky.
Through the cracks I watch the beauty of the dawn,
I wish I could take a brush and color it with my lawn.
I’d sit here on my roof and paint with mushy green,
I’d add a little pacific-ocean too and put it on the screen.
With a sponge and an ounce of soap I’ll scrub it away,
All the sadness and dust will be wiped from this day.
Finally I would paint a circle and light a match,
And to the painting fire would be attached.
From my garden I would gather roses, red and white,
Mixed together they would be the pale pink around the light.
That painting would be the ultimate might,
A beauty of the brink between day and night.
Hey Demoness, I'm not great at giving reviews, as I tend to just love most of the stuff I read. Such as this. I love all the detail and imagery and color. I like the way you describe everything. I did notice there were some places where it didn't flow as well as I'd like. Then again I may have just been reading it wrong. Also, you wrote,
Colors of mashed up orange-marmalade,
Is shattered across the drawing they made.
It should be are shattered. Or the color. Anyway, I really liked this, and yeah.
