Rain and Tears

The raindrops

are my tears,

falling fast

and never for long enough.

A perfect sphere,

dropping from

a cloud, an eye, a soul.

Crying is like the rain

but the rain

doesn't taste

like salt.

Hello, Rain Grae here!

I like the mysterious atmosphere this short poem has created. I really like the last four line because it ends the poem perfectly. The rhythm dies slowly and soulfully. I felt like the fourth line is a little unclear though because of the word "enough". But overall, it's pretty good.

Keep it up!

Ah, okay then, thank you for the review! :D

Hey there, ConverseFireGirl! It's MysteryMe, here for a quick review!

This is short, but very powerful, which is always a great commination. Your flow was nice and continuous, due to the shortness of each line, and I specifically love your word choice. I felt that this had a great meaning, but not necessarily an extremely deep one. That's not a bad thing, though. The main message of this poem, I think, was specifically to compare (and contrast) raindrops and tears, and you managed to do it perfectly.

You used a lot of figurative language, which I absolutely LOVE. The ending line, specifically, was very powerful.

"Crying is like the rain
but the rain
doesn't taste
like salt."

You spent the beginning and middle of your poem saying what your tears and rain had in common, and the way that you ended with the thing that was different about them was very clever, and I enjoyed it immensely.

My favorite line was simply: "A cloud, an eye, a soul."

Just genius... I loved it.

Well, hope this helped!!! Keep writing, you're great at it ;)

Aw, thank you, MysteryMe! I'm so glad that you liked it :D

The Missing Piece here for a review! I loved this! It feels so right to compare tears to rain! My favorite part was

" Crying is like the rain

but the rain

doesn't taste

like salt. "

That's so true! You compare it to the salt you taste in tears! I would have never thought of that! Genius! Great job! Keep writing!

I like it! Great job! I have a few doubts though. The line "and never for long enough" does that imply that tears should fall for a longer time or that rain should? But as poetry, this could just as well stay vague. Also, slight thing, when a drop is falling, it is not a perfect sphere, but that's alright. The unclearness of the poem adds a bit to the mystery in it, but I would try to extend it and maybe add some more imagery. I also like that it's short. People sometimes shy away from long poems and this one portrays the thought concisely.
Thanks for the great piece of poetry!
Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the review! But I do think that raindrops in particular are perfect spheres. My maths teacher said that perfect spheres are pretty much non existant in man-made stuff and mainly occur in nature. Then he said raindrops are xD Fun fact. :D
Thank you for the review though, I really appreciate you reading it :)

I really liked the comparison of how similar and different the two are. Especially the part where you said 'the rain doesn't taste like salt' :) . This poem is well put together, it moved me a bit too. The part that spoke to me the most was the tear falling from the soul.

This is a lovely poem, but I am probably missing a deep philosophical meaning-I tend to do that :-)
The line "a cloud, an eye, a soul." was a little confusing for me due to the fact that two of the three main words on that line were describing the raindrop/tear, and the other was the word cloud. Perhaps some additional or changed punctuation, perhaps a semicolon, would clear things up. Apart from this the poem was great.
Hope this helps,
Take That You Fiend!

Thank you, Fiend! :D The tears come from an eye, and rain drops come from clouds, and it all comes from some massive soul somewhere out there. :P That was what I was trying to portray xD Thanks again!

Didn't realize it was you! This proves it is a fair review! :-)
