Today I wanted
the day off school
but apparently,
a broken heart
is no excuse.

Hey there! Purple here to give you a review! Let's get started.
I see the emotion in this, but frankly in my opinion it's not enough. I'm not gonna tell you to have a bunch of imagery and metaphor, but I think expanding on this would be great. It's like there's a ton of potential here just hidden away. A good thing about this poem is that it gives the reader a chance to relate it to themselves or imagine it in any way they want, but there is a loss of beauty to this. I recognize the heart break, but keep going! Who hurt you and how?? How much a broken heart do you have - to what extent does it hurt?? Also, who told you it is no excuse? A parent, the school? How did they treat you? What happened?
One correction. Put a period after 'school' since that's a separate thought than the rest of it.
I'm anticipating to hear from you. Have a nice day!
~Purple
I can see your points, thank you!
This poem is very beautiful. I like how you packed in an entire story and a lot of feeling into 15 words. I feel like the poem is so relatable to such a wide variety of people, and it shows how you can share an entire experience with people just by saying how you feel.
I think this poem also points out how schools have no respect or understandment for mental health and that students have lives outside of school. I wish that all administrators could read your poem. Truly beautiful--thank you very much for sharing.
Thank you for your review, I appreciate it!
I like this, I really do. I can tell that there is a lot of feeling behind this. I can understand where you are coming from to a certain extent, not from a broken heart per se.
They only thing I would say is maybe expand a little more on what you were/are feeling. Perhaps discuss where the (for lack of a better term) pain came from or the depth of that feeling. Though I am sort of torn saying that because I do like it this way. I think that it lets the reader apply it to themselves. Anyway, this is great!
