Ode to Young Writers Society

In Poetry

Young, yearning poet,
you download your heart,
in sans serif and sans self,
on the center of my screen.

Your life is spelt
A-N-G-Z-Y-U-T-T-Y,
rhymes with "cliche"
and is untitled.

That doesn't stop you.

I wish I were a
young, yearning poet.

Hiiya Ink!

Okaay ts obvious, I JUST LOVE THIS POEM!!!

In fact, I'm pretty sure everone loves this poem!

I would loove to write a really long, well versed review, but I can't. It has to be short. Becuase its obvious, I don't have much to criticise about :P

I loooved the font refernce. As did everyone :D

Your life is spelt
A-N-G-Z-Y-U-T-T-Y,
rhymes with "cliche"
and is untitled.

My favorite, my favorite, my favorite!!!
Have I mentioned, that is my favorite!! Cuz it is!! <3

BUT,

the entire sparkles vanished away in the last stanza. I'm sowwy, but the last stanza compared to the other two, was really bad. I think you could have done a better job on that.
Of course, this poem is NOT what I expected it to be. So kudos to you! :)

I only wish, it could have been a bit longer. Sigh.
Anyways, I really loved it!
Good job!

Oh master of words,
I profess my concern
your condescension means little -
strikes very few chords
and seems far too cocky
for a rhythm so knotty

So slick an idea
required great care,
but with your big clumsy boots
you trampled your flair

Stanza the second
was a kick in the shin,
and bred shattered illusion
due to blatant derision
instead of incision
of surgical precision

A little more soul
goes a long long long way
toward helping you say
what you want to say
and with that I sign off
and bid you good day.

EDIT: Oops, I see this is a couple of years old. Anyway, this was the funnest review I've written in a long time...

Great poem, I don't know much about them, but this one spoke to me.

"you download your heart,
in sans serif and sans self,"

That was a great line. It not only speaks out to the poets on here, but it speaks out to th writers as well. This poem seems as if it comes from experience with writing here, and it's easy to see why. It does. All the time we pour our heart out onto this website in the hopes people will either give us valuable critique or like our work. This is a nice message that has comes from observation and experience here. I'll definitely check more of your work out. Great job, and keep it up.

Hey, Inkwell -- you are a young, yearning poet! ;)

I think this is pretty cool! I wasn't expecting something like this, either, when I saw the title, so I was pleasantly surprised. Although it's almost like you take a dig at YWS with the second stanza, haha! It's so painfully true, though, that I can't but laugh at it.

I really like the first stanza because of "you download your heart" and "in sans serif and sans self" -- I love how there's a font reference, and sans self is clever because our personalities are kind of lost when we write on the computer.

I think the "that doesn't stop you" is the weakest part of this poem. It's duller than the rest of it. But overall, I found this pretty nice!

Hi there. Lavvi in to review.

Perhaps the title is not suited well, but it's a quaint poem. So short, however, that there's little to critique. The title doesn't cover much of all YWS has to offer.

The poem, itself, is more about poets, whereas the title hints to everything. The poem shows not everything, but simply a small part of YWS. Perhaps a main attraction, but only a small part of.

Cute poem.

Hey there

When I first read the title I thought this was going to be a pretty average poem. "I like YWS because..." kind of thing. You really surprised me with the skill and originality of this. The structure is very odd and un-conventional which I always like. Good job.

Thanks, Smyling! In that stanza I meant that teen writers essentially write a lot about their anxiety so I said their life is spelt A-N-X-I-E-T-Y but I misspelt it to poke fun at the grammar/spelling mistakes that I always run into on this site. The poetry is usually banal and I often see "untitled" as the title to poems.

This was pretty cool as far as "different" goes. Your title drew me in mostly. I loved the opening part a lot. This part confused me a little though:

Your life is spelt
A-N-G-Z-Y-U-T-T-Y,
rhymes with "cliche"
and is untitled.

Wasn't sure what it meant, and you kind of lost me after this. But I still enjoyed the simplicity of it all in an overall sense. And those opening lines were pretty great, so good job. ;)
