Madness in Reality

In Poetry

Yesterday I was sure it was real
it all felt solid— unbreakable
and I felt every moment pass over me
a happiness unmistakeable

Though now I’m not sure
I feel heavier today
I’ll keep moving forward
but there’s something in my way.

Was yesterday a dream?
Am I in a new reality?
It’s supposed to feel real,
so why do I not feel free?

Or today is my new nightmare?
I am trapped in its chains
these scars on my arms
are only temporary pains.

Someone wake me up
I can’t stand it any longer
my nightmares are haunting me-
their hold getting stronger.

Maybe I'm just trapped
in a world I don’t know.
Trapped on my stage
in a never ending show.

I’ll take my final bows
wake from my dreams
depart from this world
where it's not what it seems

So young but still you have such a good work written in such a beautiful delicate way.
I like it a lot and I am quite surprised that you are so young after reading this. But this does not really matters now because it only helps your works look even better in the eye of the reader.
Everything is connected and you did not rush with anything. The only thing I could say is that you have commas/fullstops missing at some parts in this work but this is something really small if we look at the work as whole.
The flow is going on smooth and even and your thoughts are put out clear.
Good job and sorry that this review was short but I can not say anything bad about this work, honestly.

I really like this. You did a good job. I hope to see more from you. Everything seemed to flow together. You should be proud since you are young. It's so weird to think I'm like 7 years older than you. You seem very mature for your age. It was just deep and I understood things so well. You also had really good grammar through out it.*hugs* Just keep up the good work kid!!!

This is a good poem! ^^ I like the way it flows. You have a fantastic vocabulary, especially considering your age, haha. (Reading this, it kind of reminded me of an Evanescence song... Hey, we all had that phase! :T) I didn't see any grammatical errors, which made me super happy!
This is great work, dear, and I'm looking forwards to your future contributions! ^^

Thanks,

Hey acm! Fangirl here...
I want to ask you a question... are you sure you are 11? o_0 This poem was so well writien and has such deep meaning... really this was awesome! It had so deep meaning and in some ways i connected to it and i cannot say anything more than it was awesome.
'Or today is my new nightmare?
I am trapped in its chains
these scars on my arms
are only temporary pains.' The onky thing i would suggest is put a 'they' after are and make that last line a question, that way it would have a deeper impact.
Anyway the last stanza was my favourite...
I hope to see more of your awesome works here in future...untill then keep uo the good work...
Fangirl ;) ~

Hello, acm. This was so well written. I didn't find any grammar mistakes and the flow wasn't disturbed. You put such strong feelings into such a short work. I love the fact that you rhymed. I'm not a fan of free verse poems. The ABAB rhyming scheme is one of my favorites. The only problem I have with this poem is these few stanzas though.

Someone wake me up
I can’t stand it any longer
my nightmares are haunting
their hold getting stronger.

I'd put "me" after "haunting" and then a dash.

Other than that though I'd say this was thoroughly enjoyable. Keep writing so I can keep reviewing!

Thanks for the review! I was stuck between putting the word me at the end, but after re-reading, I think it flows better your way.

Hello! I really liked this poem! You had a nice consistent flow, and your rhyme scheme seemed natural. You really captured the narrator's emotions here, and made me feel what they were feeling. That being said, let's get to the nit-picking (It's only minor stuff, don't worry.)

The only thing that really stood out to me is a lack of punctuation, particularly in the first and last stanzas. All the other stanzas have at least one form of end punctuation, but the first and last stanzas have nothing. I would suggest adding some commas or hyphens or something to slow down the flow just a tad bit so it won't feel rushed. I also think your poem should end with a period, because, really, there's no reason for it not to. I will use your last stanza and your third to last stanza as examples of how you can add some more punctuation. You could try something like:

"Someone wake me up,
I can't take it any longer.
My nightmares are haunting,
their hold getting stronger."

And the last stanza:

"I'll take my final bows,
wake from my dreams.
Depart from this world,
where it's not what it seems.

Obviously, you don't have to do it exactly like that, but it's just a suggestion. The other thing I noticed is a lack of consistency when it comes to the capitalization of the first letter in a line. Sometimes they are capitalized and sometimes they are not. This is fine if you were setting up your stanzas like sentences, but sometimes you did that and sometimes you didn't. Consistency is important, so make sure that whatever you decide to do, you're consistent with it.

My only other suggestion would be to maybe add a little more description. Give the readers a clearer image in their minds. This poem is rather straightforward, and if that's your style, then that's fine. But I personally like poems with a little "fluff". That's just a personal nit-pick of mine though, and not necessarily something you're doing wrong.

That's all I have for you. This was a lovely poem and you're a great poet. Keep writing and have a wonderful day/night! :D
