Do you see your life?

In Poetry and Lyrics

Do you remember your past,

Revolving around you like a memory long forgotten?

Those actions and thoughts you had.

A fragile wisp of your life forever gone

In the tendrils of history?

Do you live your present,

Happening to you as you read now?

A fragile dream of time transpiring before our eyes.

A part of our life soon to be

Far behind us in our past?

Do you envision your future,

The fantasy you have inside your mind?

A dream that will someday become reality,

That moment on the near and far horizon

Where we hope to be someday?

Do you see your life,

The trail tucked back in the shadows?

The path your wearied feet tread on,

Curving in ominous silence

into the distant future.

Hi, Tulip here to give you a review, as requested.

First of all, I never review the same way every time I do a review, so don't feel bad for switching it up on your reviews. So I will do whatever comes to mind, in what ever order it happens to be in. And I do apologize if I am missing any "a's" in my review, my keyboard likes to skip them. So now onto the actual review shall I?

Reaction
I loved this poem once I finished. When I started reading this poem, I wasn't to sure that I would want to finish, but then it became more interesting to me, after that. It is one way to show the past, present, and future of everyone's lives. It is an interesting measure.

Nitpicks

The path your wearied feet tread on,

Curving out in ominous silence....

I feel like you could rewrite curving out as curving...so it would read as "The path our wearied feet tread on,/curving in ominous silence." But that's just suggestion.

That's ll I have found in the poem, to review about. It's very good poem Timmy. Good job.

Keep it up Solider,
Private Tulip. :3

thank you for your amazing review! I will edit that straight away! I am glad you loved it. :)

You are very welcome. :)

Timmyjake!
Wow! Your poem is beautiful. Its full of thoughts that make me reflect. Its like you were actually talking to me that time that I was reading it. The questions relate to each other and leaves thought while continuing to read. Another is the consistency of the descriptions that make it like dramatic!
I like the poem and hope to read more poems like this, keep writing!

Thank you for your review! Much appreciated! :D

Jakey! Pompadour here to leave a quick review! I'll just cut to the chase this time. Technicalities first!

Technical

Do you remember your past?

Revolving around you like a memory long forgotten.

Somehow, I feel as if the second line is a continuation of the first, but the fact that you've used a question mark between them kinda broke the flow for me. I suggest you use the question-mark like this:

Do you remember your past,

Revolving around you like a memory long forgotten?

Or maybe that's just me. I like the idea you've presented to us here. Also, the word "revolving" has always struck me as very beautiful. Good work!

Do you envision your future?

The fantasy you have inside your mind.

A dream that will someday become reality.

Again, I feel as though the periods here just break the flow. Short, concise sentences; it's like there's a different meaning for each of them when we know there isn't. you might want to replace the last period with a question mark here, too.

What I liked

The tone you carry throughout this poem... it's just so beautiful and melancholic. You ask questions, dead questions, and then you being them to life in this subtle, heart-stirring way. I especially loved the ending:

Curving out in ominous silence

into the distant future.

Just... just... whoa. Is it wrong that this reminds me somehow of "The road not taken," by Robert Frost and yet it is entirely unique in its own way?

The questions you ask are honest and true. Simple, yet deep.

A fragile wisp of your life forever gone

In the tendrils of history?

Loving the imagery here! Wisp is such a wonderful word!

Overall

This was lovely. There were just a couple of places where the flow halted a bit, but if you replace some of the periods with commas or semi-colons, you'll do fine.

Keep up the wondertastic work! Keep writing!

Cheers,

~Pompadour

I will fix the spots you mentioned straight away! Thanks for your review!

This makes me think too much. It's a really great poem and I like how you compare life/time to a path. It makes it somewhat easier to wrap your head around.

I really liked it.

awww.... Thank you so much! :D

Hey, you have some really effective imagery going on here. I enjoyed this poem because it has a thread to string it along (past, present, future…) and you established your point in the final verse while leaving the reader with a lot to think about.
Awesome writing!
