Reach

E - Everyone

In Poetry

Sometimes I feel happy.
Sometimes I feel hopeful.
Sometimes I think the world is ending.

Sometimes I feel nothing.
Sometimes I feel everything,
So much I can touch it, taste it.

Almost.

So I reach out, feeling into the fog
That obscures my future.

All I can hold onto
Are the shadows in the creases of my palm.

I realize
I'm completely lost.

I close my eyes and reach forward
As far as I can,
Feeling in every direction
For something
Anything
To let me know where I stand.

It's there, I know it.
It's just out of reach,
Just barely out of my grasp.

It's waiting.
Waiting for me
To take a step forward
Just one small, brave step,
A leap across
My guarded walls.

It's waiting.
Waiting for a call to revolution
Waiting for a cry for freedom.

It's there;
The warm breath of liberty
Imprisoned behind steel lips
Cold and white with fear.
Just out of reach.

Let it loose.
Reach a little farther.

Move blindly forward
Through smoke so thick
It chains your throat,
Through mist so light
You can almost see the ground you travel on.

Just go.
Stumble.
Run.
Fly.

Keep your arms outstretched
And level your barriers.

Keep your eyes open,
Though it seems there is little to look on.

Keep your head up,
Keep your back straight,
Be ready.

For at the end of the fog
At the end of the blindness
Just within reach
There is
Light.

Hey Sassykat!

I think that your intentions into this got mixed. There's beauty and a certain hope in your thoughts --no doubt of that-- but I think it would be more fair for your thoughts to come out to the world as prose and not as a poem.
And it seemed to me that you're trying to give an advice, and then you kept on talking to yourself. Are you already enlightened? Is it like an advice for and younger version of yourself?
Keep on writing about your thoughts just make sure you get them out of your system by landing them into a right structure.

And onward!

Hi, Sassykat.

I'm GeeLyria and I'm here to review for you.

I really really can't get by this without saying your opening stanzas aren't exactly the best way to start a poem. They are repetitive and lack creativity, which can bore the reader to death. A good poem should have a catchy beginning, an entertaining in-between, and a pleasant ending. To be honest, this feels like you just wrote down all your feelings and thoughts. But it's not what you said but how you said it; you expressed yourself in a very common way. I'd suggest you to work on making it a bit more catchy; try to hook the reader.

Hello There........
I was reading the description of this piece and your right! lol It did seem as though it had started off as a diary entry, right? :P It did turn its way into a lovely piece of poetry though. You have excellent use of wording and punctuation. One thing I would say is its a little choppy and unclear. There maybe a little clarity at the end but I am unsure. Well hey, maybe its just me. :/

Ok, so first off, I think this poem (is it?) is very thought filled. You obviously put some thought into this(well, more than some). I guess my first question to you is this: Is this talking about freedom? I feel like it is cause it says, " For at the end of the fog At the end of the blindness Just within reach There is Light." The title is reach, which I thought had something to do with halo reach (what, am I the only one thinking that?), but it could just mean that you should "reach" for your goals. idk. so yeah, Good poem, and keep up the good work!

I could really connect with the first and second stanza. I have known the emotions. I enjoyed this poem because is was simplistic and easier to interpret. I am one who prefers the more obvious poems because I'm not that well with guessing the meanings. :) But this one hit home and I could tell exactly the meaning. The description was nicely done and it all flowed so well! :) One thing about poetry I love is the emotions and you portrayed them very well as I stated in the beginning. Those little "one-word" sentences are another thing I love.
"Just go.
Stumble.
Run.
Fly."
I think they just can contain so much more. They can withhold so much meaning. I feel people can connect with these easily because you can decide the emotions that are going on right now. You can choose to connect with them in many different ways.
So all in all, I very much so enjoyed reading this poem. I say keep going with these poems because you can obviously portray a good mental vibe to some.
