Coming From a Stranger

In Poetry

Why do we need "Hope" assemblies?

What could their actual purpose be?

You come and you tell,

But really you sell

some kind of connection

between you and me.

-

You say these assemblies bring hope

to our teens who feel like they can't cope.

Past deaths dramatized,

Suicide romanticized,

You cause frustration to those

At the end of their ropes.

-

Throwing words of denial and anger

To those with their own lives in danger.

Explaining the science,

offering alliance,

but "I love you" means nothing

When it comes from a stranger.

-

Understand I am not pro-self-harm,

but sweet-feelsies are not lucky charms.

You are no help,

you can't delete Hell.

You won't make a difference

by raising alarms.

Wow!!!!!
This poem is amazing
I can tell that there was thought put into this poem.
Some might find it rude but your poem touched me
Mainly because I go through it
There were no grammar or rambling issues
But this is amazing
Keep writing what your heart tells you to put down on paper and you'll succeed every time.
Thanks for sharing this!!!!!!!

I agree completely with the message that i believe this poem is trying to get across. i like the rhyming pattern and the content of the poem. however, in the third line, my one criticism of this marvelous work would be that however hard you try, you cannot rhyme danger with anger. or at least not with most accents. but other than my small irritating little point, i have nothing but praise for your piece.

This piece is beautiful. I understand that you come from a view that may be seen as cynical or rude, but I think it's magnificent. So many people want to feel like racial-heroes or bully-heroes or whatever else, that they ignore what is actually happening.

Have you every listened to spoken word poetry? If you haven't, I HIGHLY recommend it. I think that you could read this aloud in the style of spoken word and it would sound fantastic. To hear what I mean, look up If I Should Have A Daughter by Sarah Kay. It's a great example of well-done spoken word poetry. I honestly think that if you muster up the courage, this poem could be even more amazing when spoken aloud.

This is a beautiful poem!! Make sure it sees the light of day.

"The trouble with Borrowing another mind was, you always felt out of place when you got back to your own body, and Granny was the first person ever to read the mind of a building. Now she was feeling big and gritty and full of passages. 'Are you all right?' Granny nodded, and opened her windows. She extended her east and west wings and tried to concentrate on the tiny cup held in her pillars."
