My Tree

In Poetry

I want to sit down on the ground
And turn into a tree,
Near the forest of my heart
And the woods that call to me.
I want to live beneath the sky
So open and so free,
Where all the silver stars at night
Can sing their songs to me.
I want to stand where shines the sun
And where the grass grows green,
Where gentle breezes from the west
Bring whispers of the sea.
I want to scatter healing blooms
For hearts that wounded be,
And ever speak of a new hope
That all life soon shall see.

I used to really enjoy writing poetry, but i stopped writing years ago (I started at like 8yrs old). This poem actually makes me want to write poetry! The poet obviously enjoys nature but is also a caring person. Instead of just wanting to be a tree for themselves, they want to heal 'hearts that wounded be'. I can very easily picture where the tree is sitting and the poet is wanting to be. Beautiful poem, cannot wait to read more!

I'm just gonna say that I clicked on this for the points, because who doesn't? But this is a nice poem!

I don't particularly like being outside, but I can understand the forest part. I like plants, believe it or not. And the idea of being a tree in a lazy forest seeing all and having to do nothing but breathe is great to me. The song is short and pretty, too! I don't think much about the stars but I suppose it would be nice to be able to have time to admire them at night. I especially love the flower part! It's my favorite part! I love it when trees bloom, especially cherry blossoms. It would definitely bring joy to someone who's had a rough day, and who wouldn't like to bring a smile? The flowers smell so pretty! I wish they lasted linger! I think the sea is way too salty but it's definitely pretty to look at. And seeing dolphins jump would be fun! Being a tree in a good place and never being chopped down would be wonderful! This poem really got me in a good mood. Have a good day!

The description of being a tree is really immersive which I didn't not expect from a poem about being a tree. The rhyming flows really well. I love the Hopeful ending. How long did it take you to make this? it feels very well thought out. Is there another meaning that I am missing or is it just about wanting to be a tree? Regardless I want to know.

The idea sort of came to me while I was trying to fall asleep one night, and I had some small ideas of what I wanted to do. I had some other background inspiration for concepts from different literature I've read. Aside from that, I basically wrote this one in one afternoon. There is not really another meaning besides wanting to be a tree. :) It's meant to convey the idea and/or mood of just wanting to remove oneself and live in peacefulness.
