Memories

In Music: Possible album

How do you expect to move on
when you can't forget?
Why do you expect the pain to be gone
when you didn't know what to expect?

remember when you were a kid
always doin' things you shouldn't 'cause your friends did
but when you played the good role they just turned around and spit
right in your face and you just ran away and hid
now the only place you won't go to is a place that's supposed to be safe
where your demons hide behind your family's face
kickin' and bringin' you down they didn't know what was at stake
They didn't know when you grew old enough you'd try to escape

Now picture when you were older and goin' to hgh school
You were hangin' out with friends, but just one or two
They were always around and saw what the demons did to you
They didn't like it but you calmed 'em down
You didn't ever complain, a whimper or any sound
You kept your head high, no matter how far the beat you into the ground
And the only thing keepin' you from leavin' was you kept thinkin'

One day

I'll be out of here

I'll spread my wings,

and just sail away

One day

I'll be over there

forgetting these memories

one day

How do you expect to be free
When you chain yourself down ?
Why do you expect to see
When you've run the truth in the ground?

No matter how many beatings you took
No matter how many times they break you and shook you
No matter how many time they tell you you're worthless
You say you're fine
When you're given up and ready to die you raise you're head high in the sky
when you're down and out and don't know why you still say you can fly

Truth is
You realized a long time ago
Things nowadays are oh so cold
A white road icing over
giving you the devil's cold shoulder
Weighin' down on you like the heaviest of boulders
that you can never get out from under 'cause
once you let that kinda pain in, you're just standin' there screamin'

One day

I'll be out of here

I'll spread my wings,

and just sail away

One day

I'll be over there

forgetting these memories

one day

once you let the pain in
even when you think you're over it
even when you think it's gone
you'll always have the memories

Hi Matt.
Since this was a personal song, I really can't critique much of it. I think it's a huge improvement and it was done fairly well.
I do want to mention again the punctuation and capitalization inconsistencies you continue to have. It's one thing to not punctuate or capitalize for a personal style or liking or vise versa. But it's another thing to do the job part-way. It makes it really confusing.

Lastly, the chorus. I found the chorus to be somewhat dull compared to the rest of the lyrics. It's a good break from the intensity, but to even it out it could use a bit more emotion, which I'm not really getting from this.

I enjoyed reading this for the most part though, so unfortunately I can't really say much else. Keep up the good work!

Matthew, i was half dead when you wrote this, you know that too well. I think im gonna review it from my personal era so dont expect a whole page of how the grammar needs to be fixed or whatever.
This is relateable for obvious reasons, i should probably send it to my mother but im too much of a wuss to do it myself. You pretty much wrote everything i have ever felt into this and im always going to be very grateful you did this. You helped me write a song that captured the pain of growing up and you wrote two songs that captured everything i was afraid to say. There are things in this world I wish i could protect you from because you really are my baby brother and unfortunately you find out anyways because you have a way to making me tell you no matter what. I thank you for being here for me and not running away.

Love you little brother <3 ~Mem

Aw Cas this is touching. Very well done.

here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can home or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)
