Do you love me you say I say I do
And for a minute it's true(you know it's true)
I say I love you, you say me too(you know I do)
And for some reason I believe you
(verse 1)
We gotta talk about things that used to be good
But this ain't workin' out the way we thought it would
This ain't workin' out at all- but we thought it should
We pushed and we pulled and did all we could but it can't happen
We fought for it- figured it should work itself out like magic
At first we thought it was just us being misunderstood but it turned out tragic
Started off calm but turned psychopathic in the dead of morning
A classic case of love-struck mourning
We took a hatchet to the fabric of our hearts and caused traumatic yearning
A feeling that caused us to start learning the meaning of regretting the past
Who'd you start turning to? I never asked
Let these tears start pouring- Didn't think it would last.
Like a shooting star flying fast above our perfect world
Before we blinked the star changed course and trashed its path and let it all unfurl
It crumbled our perfect world in a blast and left embers shining as bright as a pearl
Now we're standin' here stranded on a deserted island of emotions we can never understand
Thinking back now I realize you're not the girl I remember
And I know I've asked this a thousand times
But the only question on my mind is do you love me?
(chorus)
Do you love me you say, I say I do
And for a minute it’s true(you know it's true)
I say I love you, you say me too(you know I do)
And for some reason I believe you
I don’t know what I think
I don’t know what I feel
I just want you to stay(I'm not going no where)
I don’t know how you think
I don’t know how you feel
But you’re there each day(I swear i ain't leavin')
Do you love me you say I say I do
And for a minute it's true(you know it's true)
I say I love you, you say me too(you know I do)
And for some reason I believe you
(verse 2)
Something tells me
When we're alone
That I won't make it out not scarred
Yet something sings to me
when I'm asleep
Telling me
To not let you go
When we met I was so scared,
You kept me safe and held me there
You said that I would be okay
You said that you were gonna stay
You never left, and it made me smile
You're always here- if only every once in a while.
We joke, we laugh, we get angry and we cry.
But we pushed through by and by.
By and by, you say it as if it's a good thing
Like a twinkle of a star we're just gonna last?
It take a little effort to get over the past and the future is rushin' by so fast
You left months ago and I still ain't got as much as a text
Told me before you left you feared what was next
But where? Where'd ya go?
I know it's a no zone, breachin' a path that's so cold
But where are you when I need you the most?
You said you loved me, you said you cared
Then why is when I'm left here so scared you're no where for me to hold?
You said you miss us, well we miss you too
You said you want to come back, we want that too
But it's impossible whenever you're leavin' us alone,
impossible for us to get by on our own
What's it been, ten months that you've been gone?
The thought of you hasn't left my mind ever since
I wonder if it's because I changed my number that you can't get ahold of me
Or maybe I can't see that it's me you don't want to see
(chorus)
Do you love me you say, I say I do
And for a minute it’s true(you know it's true)
I say I love you, you say me too(you know I do)
And for some reason I believe you
I don’t know what I think
I don’t know what I feel
I just want you to stay(I'm not going no where)
I don’t know how you think
I don’t know how you feel
But you’re there each day(I swear i ain't leavin')
Do you love me you say I say I do
And for a minute it's true(you know it's true)
I say I love you, you say me too(you know I do)
And for some reason I believe you
(verse 3)
We keep repeating
Goin' day by day gettin' hooked on others, Nah I ain't cheating
Every day thinkin' I wish it was you I was meeting
I'm begging and pleading, wish you would come home
It's like I'm competing with myself now that's you're gone
Overeating and undersleeping, I've lost all will to act on
But who am I to say I'm just a pawn in your game?
I've lost all brawn to say I'm just lost in the middle of the day
Once felt like Agamemnon, now I'm just the spawn of depression that ain't gettin' a way
out
How can you say you love me with that pout on your face?
You say you love me, and although I have doubts my heart starts to race
What do you have to say?
(bridge)
It's been so long ago, since you came to me
It's been so long ago, since I had to say what I said
It's been as rough for you as it has been to me
But the love we once had, I know that it's dead
I can't fathom living my life without you
I can't fathom, leaving this place without you
Do you love me? (You know I do!)
Do you care for me?(How can I prove it to you?)
Do you still see her when you're talking to me? (You know I don't!)
How can I be sure(Just take my hand, I'll help you find out)
(chorus)
Do you love me you say, I say I do
And for a minute it’s true(you know it's true)
I say I love you, you say me too(you know I do)
And for some reason I believe you
I don’t know what I think
I don’t know what I feel
I just want you to stay(I'm not going no where)
I don’t know how you think
I don’t know how you feel
But you’re there each day(I swear i ain't leavin')
Do you love me you say I say I do
And for a minute it's true(you know it's true)
I say I love you, you say me too(you know I do)
And for some reason I believe you
I was so in love,
or so I thought.
I was in love with the idea of being in love,
It's the one thing that I self taught.

You did a good job finishing it. I tried to call, your number was changed. I was in a mental hospital, then residential, then my parents found out about this and I couldn't get on anymore. I hope you see this eventually. I just want some closure.
and if you changed your number why didn't you message me your new one!!! Gah I'm worried I'll never hear from you now.
Love is always a learning experience, I've had some nasty breakups before, and I know what it's like to hold onto a relationship for far too long and hoping it would work out. Things just don't seem to work out like they should. It's so hard to stay in a relationship when the love is already dead and the relationship itself turns sour real fast. Love is always so complicated and it makes me sad that things can't just work out the way anybody wants sometimes, no matter how you try.
Whew I've never reviewed lyrics before, but here goes ...
I'm going to review the chorus first, as it repeats.
First off, the brackets. It's lyrics, so perhaps I should know this, but I usually review poems ...
Are they echoes? If so, that's great and all, but the first two rhyme, and the second two don't. Perhaps you could change '(I swear I ain't leavin')' to '(I swear I'm not goin' there)', or something that rhymes? Or, of course, you could change '(I'm not going no where)'.
If this were writing, I would tell you double negatives are actually saying this person is going, but these are lyrics so I think that people get that the person is not going anywhere.
Again, in a poem I would say 'no repetition', but I think it's fine in a song.
So that's the chorus ...
Next up, verse one.
(verse 1)
You can see basically all I talked about was rhyming. That gives you the general idea, so I will ignore it in the next parts
The actual wording, I really like.
Okey-dokey, verse two.
I tried hard not to point out rhyming, but if you read through it, try to see if rhyming is consistent, or all stays in one pattern, unless it's purposeful.
Again, I love the actual content! That last line, especially, struck a chord with me: 'or maybe I can't see that it's me you don't want to see'.
Verse three ...
Short but ... well, sweet writing, now sweet content, if that makes any jim-jam sense?
Okay, last but not least, the bridge.
I don't really have much to say, except for the last brackets not rhyming, but that may be purposeful.
Oh, and the four-line stanza at the end -
Just yes!
Sorry if the review was a bit long ...

This is amazing! Have you written music to go with it, or just written it in song format? I really admire your ability to rhyme so often and with perfect rhyme instead of assonance- it's something I really struggle with. Keep writing!
