Can't Rise

E - Everyone

In Music: Possible album

I always thought
that in my life
Nothin' could make it better
Then I found God and he gave me shelter
Then holes cracked in the roof and this hate seeped through
If you wanna know where this anger comes from
Come to my room and I'll show you the source of it

physically abused

It's somethin' I don't want to think about
It's not that I don't remember I just want to forget about it
But I can't
It's where these feelings' spawned from
But the only hours I let it our is the hours from Dusk Till Dawn

Continue down the hall
I'll show you the rest
Look at the pictures on the wall
I think they explain it best
She had a beautiful name
When I was with her life wasn't a game
We don't talk anymore
But she ripped a hole in my chest
When I was with her
The only thing I couldn't do was rest
Always havin' the urge to fight for survival
Puttin' our love to the test

You may notice throughout these walls
Many pictures of her hang but she never calls
I don't let it get me down
But it hits when I'm in bed and can't hear any other sound
Just my name on her lips
Just her voice bouncing off these empty halls

Continue walking
Thinking of this is bringin' tear to my eyes
I always thought we'd be together till one of us died

You may notice this next room is almost blank
It's memories of people of whom I've whipped the slate
Most people deserve a second chance
But I rarely give one
It's like once you give in
They don't really want you
Unless they're hurtin'
They don't really want you

They take what you say with a grain of salt
Take your words and bury them in the dirt
They get hurt an they run back expectin' it to be the same
Then get upset when they're no longer runnin' the game

My house is a place you don't wanna be
Hurt, pain and misery everywhere the eyes can see
Everywhere there's a sound or smell you can tell there's terror
For years I've been raised here dealing with these insecurities
But I can't move on- I'm stuck on the same property
Tillin' the soil of the pain I was given
I'm not a phoenix- from these ashes I can't be risen

I'm numb to most of the words that float around
I'm paralyzed to the feeling's that seem to always bring me down
All I know are these robotic functions gettin' me through the day
If I had one, just one, wish
I'd make them all pay.

Wow! A sad and dark piece that manages to avoid heavy-handedness. It's engaging, it's vague about the situation without being incomprehensible, it's just awesome. I saw some grammatical errors. Most of them were obviously put there on purpose, and they were fine, but I'd suggest reading through it again and making sure there are no unintentional typos.

This is a very powerful piece of writing that I think could really impact others who have dealt with physical abuse as well as people like me who haven't had to deal with something as horrible as that. Your flow and rhyme is pretty good. I feel that on occasions you get into writing a bit too much and that you loose some of the rhythm but other than that your writing is absolutely amazing. Keep up the good work, and I hope that you might one day fully recover from this horrible experience.

That smells like the inside of a tropical rainforest.
