This poem was very enjoyable to read! I love all the works about chickens lately. The part that says 'sacred ground' is really funny and puts a clear contrast between the simple chicken mind and the complexity of humans. The formatting is very simple yet interesting.
As someone who has chickens, this poem is really too cute XD Especially the part about getting pecked.
Also the rhyme between "ingrained" and "grain" is soooo clever. I love it!
thank you! <3
Wow! I'm not usually one for poetry, but this was really good. I like how it captures the emotions of the mother hen in reaction to her eggs being stolen. I'd thought about this before, like 'how do the chickens feel when we take their eggs?' 'Do they even realize what's happening?'
This poem tapped into that and actually made me feel for the chicken, which is a sentence I never thought I would say, written or out loud lol. I also like how it ends with her running for the food, it felt like a very chicken thing to do
I personally have had many hens over the past decade, and this poem really tapped into their essence. Great job!
thank you so much for your review! i'm glad you enjoyed it
