A problem with Dyslexia

In Poetry

Words are mazes set in ink,
born without bearings,
thrown in the paper clink.

Without a compass or a map,
I endeavour to read,
so oft’ snared in a trap.

Think of all the fantasy,
I must have missed,
due to this abnormality.

For this however is my fate,
no silver lining,
no means in which to negotiate.

In my youth set on in class,
ask by the teacher,
please read aloud do as I ask.

Now older I can reflect,
how life has panned out,
I can look at my self without,
a single ream of regret.

I can see how Dyslexia ties into it and I like how you describe things. The only thing I saw was that my self should be myself. Do you actually have Dyslexia or are you writing what you know about it? Anyway, I have something similar to it called Disgraphia; I believe is how it's spelled.

Call me crazy, but I didn't really see the poem being exactly about dyslexia. I kinda saw someone going through the motions. Looking at the world but not really seeing it. Getting out of bed but not really awake. I don't know, that's just me.

I loved the imagery in this poem! Some very nice descriptions...

Words are mazes set in ink,

^A very good description! This really drew me into the poem. Good first line!

Think of all the fantasy,
I must have missed,
due to this abnormality.

This is a very sad description of your loss. I love it. Very touching.

Good piece of work overall. I might say (and I try not to say this because it is my biggest weakness and something I don't care too much for...) that it needs a little help with rhythm. But that's all. But forget rhythm, your words are beautiful.

Words are mazes set in ink,---- good way to describe it!

born without bearings,

thrown in the paper clink.---- i think that clink is a weird word to put here

Without a compass or a map,

I endeavour to read,----- endeavour is a wrong word choice

so oft’ snared in a trap.

Think of all the fantasy,

I must have missed,--- this really shows what dyslexia can make you miss out on

due to this abnormality.

For this however is my fate,

no silver lining,

no means in which to negotiate.
