Chapter 39

-Released Suppression

Jamie was sitting outside the room, listening to the doctors yell. She

watches as nurses came and left, all giving her sympathetic looks. Jamie

worked to be emotionless. She shut herself off from everything. The past,

the present, the future.

“Jamie!” Amber was jogging down the hall toward her. She sat down next to

Jamie breathing heavily.

“Your mom got the call, she’s been going crazy, throwing things and

screaming. She tied herself to the bed and tried to set the house on fire.

The police came and took her away. They wouldn’t tell anybody what

happened, but I heard her say something about Richard.” Amber was

speaking fast, making her words almost blur together.

“Jamie? Are you even listening to me?” Amber put her arms on Jamie’s

shoulders in an attempt to capture her attention. Jamie’s eyes didn’t move

away from the door, her ears only heard the sound of the nurses taking

orders. She hardly knew Amber was sitting next to her.

“Jamie.” Amber began to shake her, gently at first and then more

frantically.

“Oh my God, Jamie! Wake up…please wake up. Don’t do this…”

She was slipping down the wall, her eyelids grew heavy and the world turned

into blurs of swirling white. She hit the ground heavily, Amber’s call for a

doctor were the last thing she heard.

“Don’t worry, your friends going to be fine.”

It was another doctor, Jamie didn’t recognize his voice. He looked young,

too new to be jaded by his job. His blue eyes were still bright, and his hair

was shiny with care. His white coat mostly obscured Amber from Jamie’s

sight, only the top of her brown hair could be seen over his shoulder.

“But she wasn’t breathing.” Amber sounded like she was on the relapse of

tears.

“She just passed out. Give her time she’ll come back.”

“Amber?” Jamie’s voice was raspy. She cleared it painfully.

“Oh my God,” Amber gasped, running up to Jamie’s bed. “You scared me

so bad. What happened?”

“Richard,” Jamie said clearing her throat again. “Is he…”

The young doctor walked up to Jamie’s bed next to Amber.

“Your father’s fine,” he said with a smile, “the doctors put up a good fight.

He’s even awake now.”

There was a clash of conflicts in her mind. On one hand, Richard was alive,

she wouldn’t have to go to court again. On the other hand though Richard

was going home eventually. What would that be like?

“Congratulations.” The young doctor left the room with that young smile

still on his face.

“He’s…awake?” Jamie asked, dazed.

“I didn’t know…” Amber said, “Last I heard he was dying.”

Jamie shifted in her bed until she was sitting up, propped up against the

stiff pillows.

“Jamie,” Amber began cautiously, “What would you have done?”

“What do you mean?” Jamie asked.

“If he had…died. I mean. What would you have done?”

“I don’t know,” Jamie said. She didn’t say anything about her mothers

threat to have her tried for murder.

Amber looked around the room for a second.

“Do you have your notebook? I need to write something down.”

Jamie felt the emptiness in her hands that had been there since she

stopped writing. How weird it had felt to hold in all of her emotions instead

of writing them down. What details would she forget?

“No,” Jamie said. “I haven’t…I haven’t had it for a while now.”

“Why not?” Amber asked, sitting on the edge of the bed. She was dressed

in pajama’s, like she had rushed out of the house. Jamie slightly

remembered what Amber said running down the hall.

“What did you say about my mom earlier?”

“Are you okay?” Ambers eyes were filled with concern.

Jamie shook her head, “I don’t think so.”

Amber wrapped Jamie in a hug, whispering promises she could never keep

into Jamie’s hair.

“You’ll be fine. I promise, nothing more will happen.”

Richard was awake. He was going home

*scream* ... okay that was in a good way kind of scream. Hehe. I don't like surprises!!!! I think you did really good this time. I'm a little upset at the whole situation. I mean, if he had died, then she would have gone to jail. But now he's coming home, which is even worse. I think Jamie should move out. So yeah... I'll jsut be waiting here for the next chapter to come. I didn't really catch anything that the other people didn't get already. Happy writing!

Some grammar issues here and there, you could catch them on a read through I'm sure.

So, why did she pass out? Did she hyperventilate? I don't know, I've never passed out, except for when I was younger [ten and under] and that was because I had seizures, so I don't know the many reasons a person could pass out?

I don't really have anything to complain about.

YAY!! I really loved this piece JC. I kinda wished that Richard had died though....evil, twisted man....

She watches as nurses came and left, all giving her sympathetic looks.
