This poem strikes me as an articulation of one of those darker times. This one feels like it takes place specifically after a breakup or loss of someone. Makes me as a reader feel all icky and dark cuz vomit n stuff, but the overarching theme seems to be sorrow or disgust.

As far as reviewing goes I feel like you know how to write a poem, but just didn't bother with this one. This feels like something you just wrote out an posted without another thought, and it's good enough for something like that. You technically say the same two things in a few different ways, like you decided to coat the main idea with fancy pictures and phrasing. Imagery is great, but in this case I feel you used too much. In this case I think you should just say what you mean and keep it at that. Anyway, keep up the writing man.

I actually worked on this poem for a week and went through many drafts. It wasn't until @Aley pulled out one good stanza from the original and scraped the rest that I settled on this version. And that's just my summary of the hellish writing process I went through to get this poem the way it is. This was very hard for me to write just because I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do with it until this version. I went through five versions of this poem in total (including this version). I'm not completely happy with this poem. I can definitely see myself changing a few things up in a future, but it definitely wasn't something I 'just wrote'.

Okay. My apologies. It's just certain things you said made me think you didn't edit. You said you weren't sure where you were trying to take this poem so I'm going to assume you wanted to describe a certain feeling. In this case, as far as describing said feeling goes, line 1 in verse 1, line 2 in verse 2, and line 1 in verse 3 can be taken out without changing the feeling conveyed all that much. My point was just this; excess imagery made the poem feel as if it could be said better with less words. I'm sorry if I sounded rude.

Well i believe its about a person trying to drown their sorrows with alcohol, and its the character desribing a hangover. The reason behind the hangover would be a breakup. The beak up is the easiest thing to understand from the poem.
I love the phrase "I'm Nothing but an empty shell' I'ts realy powerful when you make a statement in a poem. The use of short sentences is also very effective.
its not much but i hope it helped in some way

I don't do tons of poetry reviews, buuuuuuuuuut you had the author's note at the end asking what the poem's about, so

HERE I AM.

So the first thing I thought of was eating disorders, because of the references to purging/regurgitation, the empty stomach, the throat, insides spilt, things like that. Plus the talk of emptiness - not physical, but spiritual/mental/otherwise - seems to fit, especially since eating disorders often go hand-in-hand with larger problems like a mental illness or other stresses.

The last stanza still ties into the (kinda gross but powerful) imagery of purging but also introduces a new idea that maybe this is a breakup poem instead. However, I could also see this referring to an abusive relationship or even rape because of texts, hugs, stares, and words being referred to as "a mess" and "sick" and the fact that the "you" in the poem "sped over it all and left me."

It's probably a breakup poem, but that's all the stuff I read into it.

(Even though I have now read through all the other reviews and...acid reflux is way less dramatic than what I was imagining! Although as a person who had a stress-induced ulcer at a young age and threw up basically constantly for over a year...I sympathize.)

Hello, E.E here for a possibly quick review and maybe some utter nonsense! So, lets get started. :D
Okay, first thing I notice is that whenever there should be a capitol letter but theres not. I have said this before but, I will take that as a style choice for this excellent poem. I don't have much to say on the spelling and grammar part because, I personally, did not notice any. Someone else might though!
First things first, the flow was great. No part was really bumpy and the imagery was fantastic! It was quite easy to imagine an empty parking lot and a hollow shell of...of something with just a jumble of things, be it organs or words just sloshing around. Comparison was pretty good like "I am nothing but a hollow shell." as well as "I'm a void". Those worked very well with the poem.
Now is when I dissect your poem and see if I can get the meaning right! So, this poem, I am guessing, is about you or a stranger knowing that you are just numb, an empty pit. You cling to the text and hugs that you get but then again, most things like that are just even more venom being injected. None of it really helps and most people are just empowering the feeling of being empty. Most are just slinging words at you like throwing knives and they impale themselves into your gut, never letting go. You feel so vulnerable and unable to speak about it. About how much you are hurting on the inside. You did something that is stuck on your tongue, on your brain and it won't let go when you really want it to. It could of been a simple phrase of words or maybe the slightest of actions.
This poem, this damn poem. It makes me feel so empty. You mastered that, and it helps that I am a very sympathetic person! I can't even read embarrassing parts in books or movies! I need to look away! Anyways, this poem has such a strong pull to it, it's so easy to let it words tangle themselves into your brain and get lost into the thoughts your brain conjures up. It makes you think, for damn sure. (Sorry for the language)
Overall, I really liked your poem so keep up the good work and Happy Halloween! (I am saying that, you can't stop me.) :P

Greetings! RainaDee here for a review!
I'm going to first answer you questions than add a few things I thought were well done and some things that just need a bit of tweaking. Remember, the stuff I say is purely suggestion, so feel free to ignore it! Anyhow, on with the review!

1) The poem sounds like someone dealing at first anxiety and severe depression, but later it sounds like a loss, as in a death or some sort of relationship ending (friend or significant other). Suddenly I get to you last stanza and it sounds like someone very important to the speaker just didn't care enough to acknowledge the speakers pain and now said speaker is dead, emotionally or physically. It kind of goes both ways for me. Let me know if that's actually how you intended it or not because now I'm really curious.

2) This poem makes me feel a little scarred because It makes me think about my past with other people and I have to wonder, "Did I unintentionally made someone feel this way?" It also makes me feel sad, due to the fact of, I have actually felt this way and it's a terrible thing to go through, the emptiness. Good poem, it pulled on my heart strings.

3) Okay, something I liked is the imagery, all of the things you use help add on to the poem and help describe what's happening to your character. Sometimes some people, including me, will go over board on using imagery to the point of it taking away from the poem, however, you avoided doing that, so good job there! :)

4) Maybe you could add a little context to the bitter after math being stuck to your tongue? It isn't necessary, just a thought to add a little more depth to your poem.

Any way, that's all I got for you. I liked this and thought it was really well put together. Hope to see more of your writing around!

Thanks so much for reviewing and answering my questions! <3 This does have to deal with anxiety and someone leaving. When people leave me or like I lose friends/boyfriends it really stresses me out and triggers my acid reflux and that can sometimes lead to vomiting. So yeah. I wanted to write something unusual and not super romantic like my other poems.

I feel ya on the people leaving thing, it's stressful. And thanks for letting know what you intended because I always wonder if I'm interpreting things correctly. I hope the acid refluxed gets better for you, have you tried an over the counter antacid for that? I know it helped me some, I hope it will help you. Any way, love the poem!
