self-acceptance
A Poem by Ley

I see myself as I am: unadorned; everlasting, perfectly mine.
I’m not a shadow of someone else’s idea, I’m whole,
and love starts with this simple glance.
I see not just my image but a deeper truth,
a person who is more than the sum of others’ expectations,
I turn away from the mirror’s edge,
feeling emptiness where acceptance should have been,
still chasing shadows of validation,
never quite able to grasp the love I wished to find.
