"You're wasting your breath," Cros says. Cros's tone is strange like there's a hidden meaning behind it.

"You're a smart man, Cros," Sebler says. "There's just one lesson you have yet to learn. You're far too stubborn to quit. I didn't want to do this but I may have to."

"You're a dumb one," Cros replies. "You really think I'm stupid enough to accept your offer?"

"No. You don't have to," Selber says.

The old lunatic reaches out and grabs Cros by the arm. Cros pulls back but Sebler doesn't let go.

"Don't you want to say goodbye to your friends? You might not see them for while." Cros struggles even more ferociously. "I guess not," In an instant Cros disappears. "That makes up for both your trespassing on my island and killing one of my animal friends. If you leave right now you might just get him back."

"And if if we don't comply?" I ask. Sebler strokes his chin thoughtfully.

"If don't you surrender right away, you will be eaten by Chaise immediately."

"What if we kill you first?"

"It won't come to that." I grit my teeth and clench my fist. That grin is nerve-wracking. I'm going to wipe that thing right off his face.

To my shock and horror my thought turns into reality. A nearby bush uproots itself and flies straight at Sebler who teleports to the side. The object falls harmlessly to the ground. He looks at me and laughs.

"There's a fine of one gold piece for every act of destruction up to fifty. After that I'll have to send you to Cros."

"You're weird. You expect me to pay you fines?"

"When the alternative is burning, yes."

Not if I smother you first, I think, willing the dirt around Sebler to form into a crater and collapse on him. To my utter amazement a giant wormlike creature thrashes out of the earth and flies through the air. In might flight it turns into an angry hornet buzzing toward me. About a foot before the collision, the bee turns into Sebler, in particular his heel. Ouch. That hurt. I scramble back to my feet and command the tree to my right to fall down. Sebler teleports in the middle of the air in the form of a rhino and pushes the tree toward me, but I send the tree backward, hurling Sebler back like a stone from a catapult.

With a sigh I watch Sebler transmutes into leaf and flutters harmlessly to the ground. I throw my knife at the the leaf, hoping to kill it, but he turns into a small dragon and I recall the knife to it's sheath, growling in frustration. I just want to crush that puny man into a thousand pieces of permanent hurt and pain.

"Try destroying me. I dare you, but I know you can't."

I sneer. The magic courses through my vanes, and I'm sure I can do anything. I could kill RP if I wanted to, but there isn't time for that now.

"I'll find a way," I say, sending two arrows from my quiver flying at Sebler. They reach him with in a second or two, but he still has time to recover and teleport two feet away before disappearing. I wait for him to reappear. Looking around, I only find my friends and a bunny hopping through the forest.

I spin around, hearing a sudden noise just in time to see Sebler swing a huge saber at me. I duck and charge toward him, knife in hand. Before I reach him, he teleports several feet away from me and swings his sword with full force. My vision and hearing is cut off in an instant, but returns after a few moments. I look around in confusion. Everyone is staring at the ground. I follow their gazes and recoil in horror to see my head lying on the ground. How am I still alive?

"Am I seeing this right?" I mutter.

I'm unable to wrench my gaze away from the head. It's like a sudden paralysis has seized me; I'm incapable of performing any other action excepts staring at the body for an indefinite period of time. This is unbelievable. There has to be something wrong. Some mistake. I can't have just regrown my head.

"That's . . . impossible," Sebler quakes. "I've never seen anything like it. For a second you were headless and dead. Then your head just popped right back on like nobody's business. How the . . . what are you?"

I shudder and turn back to him. I'm too shocked to come up with a snarky reply. All I can say is that I've never seem anything like this in my life. First RP, then Cros and Sebler. But growing my head back? I never would have dreamed about this. But there it is, staring at me like an awestruck four year old. Even the splatters of blood are real. I touch my face, but there aren't any there. This is just really weird.

"Let's try this again," Sebler says.

I feel the same strange sensation as before, but once again, my senses quickly return to me. I can see and hear like everything is normal. I look back on the ground and sure enough there is a second head of mine lying there. This is just freakish.

"Your skin just totally grew back within a matter of seconds," Aiey whispers, her jaw dropping.

"I've never seen anyone with the power to do that, even using very powerful magic."

"Did you hear that Racen?" RP teases. "Someone thinks you're special."

"That's nice," is my terse reply.

"No matter." Sebler says. "You're only one path in the labyrinth to defeat you fools."

I send RP hurling at Sebler, feet first, but Sebler leaps forward in the form of a Cheetah. I set RP down and he effortlessly pulls out Báuräc, stabbing at Sebler. Sebler seems to disappear with a puff of dust and appears behind RP. I tear the earth apart. Literally.

Sebler floats in the air in the form of some bird. Is that a pelican? I don't have time to think, because he comes flying after RP once again. RP throws up an illusionary wall, but Sebler uses it to leap forward in the guise of a tiger. This is getting really annoying. To my surprise, Sebler trips. That's a good piece of information. The magic can only save him when he realizes he is in danger. I file the nugget of information away and focus back on Sebler. Wait. Where is he?

A swoosh of air behind me alerts me of Sebler's presence as he grapples with Wold in the form of a a large, tenacious dog. He almost looks fat, but I have a feeling that the bulk is mostly made up of muscle tissue. Regardless, Báuräc is flying toward Sebler and reaches him in what seems like the bling of an eye. Somehow, Sebler manages to recover at the last possible moment, transmuting into a bunny and back into the ferocious dog within a split second. Báuräc is imbedded into a tree twelve feet away form Sebler. Oops. RP won't be happy.

This newfound ability is useful, but it still hasn't make a breakthrough for me. This isn’t working out for me too well so far. With some practice, I might accomplish something useful for once.

While wold fights off the tenacious dog controlled by Sebler while I tug at RP’s sword with my mind. Moving it really isn’t hard compared to doing it using my own strength. The sword flies at a distracted Sebler, but once again he avoids the attack by teleporting around. This isn’t working . . . at all.

I let Báuräc glide slowly and then dance around Sebler, barely touching his skin. He seems annoyed, but simply makes a variation to make his hide thicker. How am I supposed to hurt him if he can literally turn into anything he wants to? It’s practically impossible! Finally, I resort to carving away the earth directly under his feat and then forming a mini-tornado out of it, making pains to not harm Wold. While sustaining the tornado with my mind I pull Wold out of harms way. That gives me an idea. If I can move wold, can’t I move Sebler as well? It’s worth a try.

I pick Sebler out in the forest a few hundred feet away. Fire shoots out of the palm of his hand like a hole in a dam and sets the forest directly in front of him on fire. Then, he teleports over another thirty feet and repeats the process. Desperately, I try throwing Sebler into the fire. At first he seems surprised, but when he turns into Chaise it’s my turn to be surprised. With all my will, I keep my cool and move the others a safe distance away while doing my best to deal with Chaise. Despite all my efforts, the best I can do is trap Chaise’s tail underneath a log or two, but Sebler easily escapes by shrinking himself.

"You can’t stop me," Sebler sneers. "All your efforts are utterly hopeless. Prepare to die!"

I pull a wall of earth around me, but the dirt only lessens the heat. While protecting myself I warp Chaise’s fire, letting the dirt to fall back down into the ground; but when I look for Sebler he is nowhere to be found.

Hello and happy review day! :D I apologize for not reading the previous installments first, but let's get this out of the green room, shall we.

I'm very intrigued by this story. I'm obviously missing a lot coming into things late, so I don't know the whole situation surrounding what's happening now, but I don't think that matters a lot. Despite knowing nothing, I still felt pulled into this story. I'm not a fantasy person or a fighting person, but I had no trouble following the sequence of events in this section and understanding what was happening in the fight (at least I think I followed it all correctly :p). I think descriptions are your strong suit. I'm not sure what the big picture setting here is or where I am exactly, but I'm sure that was covered in a previous chapter. The more small scale descriptions about what's going on are where I thought you did a nice job.

One area I think could be a bit stronger is the dialogue. Most of the dialogue fell a bit flat for me. I happen to love writing dialogue, so maybe I can be of some help :) Overall, I think you could beef up the personality and give the dialogue a bit more life. I'll break that down a little more.

"You're wasting your breath," Cros says. Cros's tone is strange like there's a hidden meaning behind it.

Your second sentence is carrying the personality, but distanced from the dialogue it doesn't have as much power. It's also a bit vague and kind of leading at the same time.
What is Cros feeling at this moment? How can you convey that?
"You're wasting your breath," Cros spat.
"You're wasting your breath," Cros rolled his eyes.
"You're wasting your breath," Cros said softly.
"You're wasting your breath," Cross smirked.
Each of these conveys a different emotion. This also shows the tone without you telling us.
Think about this throughout the rest of the dialogue. You don't have to get super creative with every single dialogue tag, but when there is emotion behind the words, try to convey that without getting to repetitive (like you don't want the character to smirk four times in a row). I'm assuming there's quite a bit of emotion behind this conversation because they're about to fight. Show me more of what they're feeling.

"Don't you want to say goodbye to your friends? You might not see them for while." Cros struggles even more ferociously. "I guess not," In an instant Cros disappears. "That makes up for both your trespassing on my island and killing one of my animal friends. If you leave right now you might just get him back."

Break this paragraph up a bit. If the person talking and the person doing the action are different, they should be in different paragraphs for clarity.

"And if if we don't comply?" I ask. Sebler strokes his chin thoughtfully.

"If don't you surrender right away, you will be eaten by Chaise immediately."

"What if we kill you first?"

Another way to spice up your dialogue - you did it there with the first line. It kind of goes back to showing the emotion but it's more through action that description. It can be as subtle as an eyebrow moving. Body language tells us a lot not only about how they're feeling, but also how they react to things and who they are as a person. Give me more emotion in the rest of these lines. I really want to know how that last line is said.

Think about how people talk. How do people use their faces and bodies to help convey what they're saying? How do people react to others? Think about conversation etiquette and whether or not these characters would follow that (like interrupting or being insulting).

I appreciate that you sprinkle in some description throughout some pieces of dialogue to break things up and to keep things moving forward, but now I want more emotion in the dialogue as well. This is a tricky thing to do, so please let me know if you have any questions or if anything I said was confusing! I hope you continue working on this because I think you have an interesting thing going here. I really enjoyed the suspense you were building and how you kept things moving forward with exciting (but not over the top) action. :D

It is interesting!I still can't say i understand the whole situation there but i dont mind not knowing it all. This is the mystery i like after all!I like your main characters and the way the plot is going. You better go on and write part two!I think you are very detailed while explaining thewhole fighting situation. It just starts to get even more interesting! It is good that you add that fantasy and magic, also.

Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regret, for I am far surer of what is kind than I am of what is true.
