  • Today was my last day at my job of five years. (My choice. A good and necessary thing. But a bittersweet thing because when I started, it was a dream job. And now it’s not.) and I have lots of complicated feelings that will feed a whole book, so more on that later.

    May is my re-set month.

So brb — heading for the mountains to recharge my brain and my soul <3

hello!! <3 thanks for the congratulations and all that...how is the noveling going for you if you don't mind me asking?

Carlito hey!! i'm still at it!
I'm not currently querying anything, but I'm slowly working on preparing a book I call "bunny rom com" to query again. I'm chipping away at my camp nano goal, which is a first draft of a book I'm calling "roadtrip romance". about to hit 20k! lots of other ideas marinating at various stages of development too, so time will tell what I work on next :)
    how's your writing life going?

  • I promise you that if you’re ever in the path of totality of an eclipse, or you can travel to the path of totality, it is 1000% worth it. My city was in totality today and I got to see the whole thing from my backyard. It is truly a surreal, incredible experience. Like I won’t be anywhere near the next two that will come through the US, but I hope I can travel to see it again. It’s that cool.

yoshi wow i only got to see partial

i've never seen a totality before, I really want to go watch it next time we have one

    Apr 8, 2024

atlast i was also in totality and it is something i'm going to think about for the rest of my life. like this felt life changing in some way that i can't explain lol

  • okay I know I'm probably the only one here that follows elite figure skating if i'm wrong please introduce yourself <3 but I'm actually dead because this was the wildest world championships i've ever seen.

The women's final last night was cRAZY. but then today the men said HOLD MY SKATES.

So we had Adam (france) who was a podium favorite going in - bombed his short program yesterday and was in 19th place. oof. Skated a LIGHTS OUT PERFECT FREE SKATE TODAY. Did a backflip (and took a 2 point deduction for it because they're technically not allowed but he likes throwing one in sometimes and he was like eh not going to make the podium so y not).

Adam was still in the lead until the FINAL THREE MEN. Shoma (japan, 2x world champion, 2x olympic medalist); Yuma (japan, olympic and world medalist); Ilia (usa, world medalist and self-appointed "quad god").

Shoma makes several big errors and slips below Adam, meaning ADAM WENT FROM 19th to the podium. A record breaking placement jump lol. They showed his reaction backstage and he literally fell to the ground in shock as did all of us.

Yuma (my fav) skated this close to perfect. Goes ahead of Adam.

Ilia skated last. He's the first (and only) person in the world to ever land a quad Axel (4.5 revolutions in the air). It's crazy. It's not even hard for him anymore. This cyborg landed a record-breaking SIX quad jumps in his program. Quad axel + five others. (They do seven jump elements total, four in isolation and three in combination). One of his combos was literally the craziest combo I've ever seen. His score was absolutely insane. Won by 30 points.

    will actually never recover.

Meshugenah GAH! I even saw it was on and managed to forget! I totally missed the women yesterday, so I'm off to scour for video.
    Mar 24, 2024

Carlito @Meshugenah if you're in the states and have Peacock, that's probably the easiest way to watch the whole event. Otherwise, SkatingISU YouTube channel is what I use when I miss stuff. It's geoblocked so you'll need a vpn if you're in north america/europe.

deanna & max are 100% worth the watch in pairs in addition to all the singles!!

deleted32 I was born the year Y.W.S was created, and it makes me feel old, thinking about the fact that Y.W.S has been around as long as I have.

  • pssssttttttt calling all novelists!!!!

i know we're counting down for NaPo....

BUT IT'S ALSO TIME TO GET EXCITED FOR APRIL CAMP NANO!!

This is the gentle version of NaNoWriMo (when you write a 50k novel in november). With Camp NaNo, you can set whatever goal you want! 100 words a day? 50000 words for the month? anything goes!
Write a novel, write short stories, write a script, write all of the above, whatever makes you happy! & i'm still waiting for a poet to come write a novel in VERSE please and thank u

I'll be working on Roadtrip Romance!

Get planning (or not. i'm a pantser too <3)! Make your mood boards! Build your playlists! And then come tell us about your project! I'd love to cheer you on <3

(you can do NaPo and camp nano... but if you want to focus on NaPo, there's a second camp nano that runs in july!)

  • every time I look at the clock, another hour has gone by and I've just been blissfully reading through bunny rom com to make sure I like it and the edits are working.

i very much like it and the edits definitely work

  • What's more painful:
*writing a cover letter for a job
*writing a synopsis for your book

Snoink Boooooook. I have written so many cover letters. But a synopsis makes me freeze.
