Text Version:

they say love is a gentle thing
but i disagree.

love is brutal like the
summer heat burning your skin and
the waves crashing you down and
the water filling your lungs as you
flail for your life.

and when i scrape my skin off
running myself ragged
i grind myself into the ground to
run my eyes bloodshot and my
bones ache and back cracks i
know that
love is what is bearing me down

these broken smiles and
this pain that lances through my heart
these tears that i cannot stop
are labours of love

i don’t like what i see in the mirror and that
feels like a hot knife in my chest bearing me down because
somewhere; sometimes;
i hate myself
but it is out of love.
it is out of love.
i–
i lo-

if in the sea i must pay for my
complacency and swim ashore alone
or drown. and
when my sunburned skin stings i must
find a way to soothe it myself
and hate the scarring

i break my finger and i break my bones and
i must mend them myself as these scars must serve as
reminders that
i am broken and
i am |

love is like ice burning your skin and
fire freezing your heart it is
the destruction of how you live and
the breaking apart of
who you are

love cannot be gentle because
i am not gentle with myself and
surely i-
i lo-

this has to be love because i-
i lo-
because

everyone loves themselves

and
why has fate
made me different?

I really really love this
Wow ironic right

I genuinely hate myself so I feel this
I like the way you broke off the words "I love"

THe organization is really lovely, but I do have to point out I think maybe there is an excessive use of the word "and"? I realize that fox pointed this out but I was just noticing while I was reading

OBVIOUSLY you don't have to take my advice it's not meant to be like that do whatever you want. Overall this was amazing.

I really loved the way you explain your opinion on love, I think many people do underestimate the pain of love like you say, I truly appreciate someone with the same view.

A few notes I’d have for you is I really like the way you describe how the feeling is in so much detail and metaphor, but there’s a lot of repetition of the word “and”, it makes it feel less poetic and professional it kind of dims the feeling.

Other than that though I really like your work id love to see more of you around here :)

Please immediately cease and desist from offering Bob any more coffees with peppermint sprinkles. Thank you.
