A cheerful heart, a simple smile of joy,
Has the power to change a mood;
They express feelings that are hard to convey,
And bring happiness in the midst of pain.
It is such a small gesture,
But it explains how the heart feels.
It reveals emotions that words cannot,
It is the universal symbol of a joyful thought.
This world is so full of hate and strife,
So just smile, as it could change a life.

There is only one word to describe this, and that is SPLENDIFEROUS!

This is such a cheerful optimistic poem that it made me smile!
It is so true as well. To coin a phrase, manners cost nothing, and this includes smiling. Universal good will is the key to generic happiness, and this should be started by smiling.
It is also the reason I use emocons; almost never for the dreaded sad face.
This is so amazing, it should be made into a public information film.
If I weren't following you already, I would do so on the strength of this poem
After this, the only way is down,
Take That You Fiend!
Hi there, here's another review for you!

Good job.
"A grin, a simple smile of joy"
- I find these clauses to be contradictory. A grin suggests a more sinister feel compared to a smile which is more happy and content. I would suggest that you replace the word "grin" with a synonym that suggests the content tone you seem to be trying to convey. This would allow you to make your tone more evident from the very beginning of the poem. Though, I do like the alliteration of "simple smile" because that DOES imply contentment.
"They express things that are hard to convey,
And bring happiness in the midst of pain."
- These two lines don't flow too well. I would suggest that you search for ways to say these two lines in the same way but without using so many words.
"It is such a small thing"
- The repetition of the word "thing" isn't very effective and the word itself isn't very specific. Say exactly what it is that's "small".
"But it explains how the heart feels"
- I would keep this line.
"It expresses emotions that words cannot,
It is the universal symbol of a joyful thought."
-These lines 6 and 7 also don't flow very well. Avoid repeating "expresses". The word is playing the same role as the word "express" in line 3. If you want to describe the same thing, don't repeat the same word. Rather look for a synonym. Line 6 is otherwise fine, but line 7 has too many words so it stops the flow just like lines 3 and 4. "Universal symbol" is the main reason for this. It has too many syllables and is also quite generalised. If you're wanting to say with this that a smile is used by everyone, "universal symbol" can be replaced with something that suggests that more specifically.
"This world is so full of hate and strife,
So just smile, it could change a life."
- These lines really tie the poem up really well. I like how the speaker speaks directly to the reader here at the very end. Really good way of ending the poem.
Overall, this poem is really sweet. I like it a lot and think your topic is really simple. I like that it doesn't have a lot of description so I would suggest you don't add any. Just be more specific and it will be 100%!
8/10.
How does it look now?

Hi, Hsarver! I exist to review your poem here, so now, I will! The long awaited review has arrived!
The third and fourth line seem as though they don't flow or rhyme well. Instead, maybe increase or decrease the amount of syllables. That could really help.
Maybe adding "as" in the last line before "it" would improve the flow and rhythm. If you're thinking otherwise, you may, of course, do so.
Now only that, you forgot to add "how" to smile or explain more about a grin or a smile. If you do that, instead of writing about a smile means, that could help.
I would certainly give this a 9/10 rating! Great job. The poem has a lot of hidden potential, so use that!
Keep writing!

Hey! I really liked this poem. This is a great reminder of what the little gestures in life can do! I remember when I helped an older lady find her car, and I told her that I was glad to help and it just seemed to make her day. The rhyming is great and is spaced between the verses well (so it definitely flows). I can't spot any grammar or spelling errors. Keep on writing poetry like this; there is so little poetry about the little positive things in life. People look at the big picture and forget to look at the details of the picture that make it beautiful. I hope I was able to provide you with a constructive review!
