Oh Night

Oh night, your rosey light
in this absence of thought and mind
with your warm, wet wind
and the shattered stars,
arch above us.

Oh night, your purp'ling light
illuminates shadowed faces,
cloaks them in dusk,
your cool soft breeze
rattles the wind chimes,
sounding like ghost sighs.

Oh night, your bluish light
invades our eyes and the world.
The world is tinted in your hue,
and your slow, perpetual gusts
ruffle the feathers of the pigeons,
gone to sleep hiding their faces
from your light.

Oh night, your graying light
and the misty clouds that descend
on us and the city.
Surround our world in silence.
The wind settles to an unheard whisper
and the trees droop in absence of the sun.
We are still and silent and dark;
we become the shadows
that follow us in the daytime.

Hello fortis! First off, let me just say, I'm a huge fan of your work! It's Yubbies here for a review!

Comparing the colors of the light is a beautiful to use imagery in this poem. It sounds sort of like a love poem you wrote for the night, which is a unique idea. The tiny details that you added to the poem, really make it worth reading.

This description in the first stanza just jumped out at me for some reason.

and the shattered stars,

I have a wind chime and I've been trying to describe the sound, but you did it perfectly.
rattles the wind chimes,
sounding like ghost sighs.

Adding in that there are pigeons is a good way to show night. I always relate pigeons to night time, because I always see them up on the power lines outside my house, but only at night.
The world is tinted in your hue,
and your slow, perpetual gusts
ruffle the feathers of the pigeons,
gone to sleep hiding their faces
from your light.

Anyway, thanks for this poem!

Happy World Cup and New Years!

Give into the night~

Ah, but seriously, I really like poems with a theme related to the night. It reminds me of the moon, which has amazed me since childhood.

Anyway, onto my review! Gummy's the name, reviewing's my game! Today I'll be reviewing "Oh Night" by my teammate fortis! Hi again!

I'll start with what I liked, since I doubt I'll be able to find anything to nitpick on. The grammar is pristine, as always! Not like I expected anything else from you, but I just like saying that. The imagery and the color symbolisms paint a beautiful picture in my head, and the poem flows neatly. I especially liked the last two lines, since I like ideas that blow my mind.

I'm going to close this review right here, since there's no need to write a review sandwich without any "meat" between the two "buns"! So, you just get a slice of bread. Congratulations. ._. So, without further ado, I give you the closure. Take care, keep writing, and I expect to keep reading more of your work in the near future! As always, remember that practice is the key!

Ohhh, I really enjoyed this. You have quite a way with words. As stated below you use a lot of beautiful imagery. This poem shows a variety of emotions which keep the reader interested in what you have you have to say. I could imagine reading something like this in a book. I truly did like this! Keep up the good work and keep writing. :)

So my name is Ossum and this is your review.

So this piece is really something. It conveys not only a ton of imagery but it gives the term night as its own sentient being. And I like that. And its not just one emotion which alot of poets tend to stick with when they convey and emotion of inanimate objects. Your night goes through many different personalities and traits that make up what it does and doesn't do. Its likes and dislikes and that is pretty cool.

Keep writing, Cant wait to read more.

Have a great and super fantastic day!
