In Poetry

My first 'humorous' poem.

I was thinkin' of my grandfather when I wrote this. And yes, all of the spelling and grammical "errors" are intentional.

By the way, this is in 'cajun speek'...ish.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gotta catch 'em,
Get dem now.
Don wait no mo,
Hurreh please,
Dem alligatahs' fas and quick.

Aligatah huntin'
Be a tough ol' job,
But I ain't one for quittin'
Least I be dead tehmorow!

Stelth like de wind,
Snakin' trou de trees.
Dun gots to have da skills,
To catch dat big ol' fish.
Silent as a mouse,
Quick an' fas' like lighnin'.

Catch em fas',
Dun hesitate,
Dae be gon like dat big ol' snake.

This is okay to me, because it is character development. I believe I could see this in a book of an uneducated wild man.. or a T.V show theme song. It's not suppose to be taken seriously or my review would be really different. It is actually easy enough to read with the errors.

"Gotta catch 'em,

Hurreh(I don't get this word do you mean hurrah?) please,

Least I be dead tehmarow. (I like this word!)

To catch dat big ol' fish. (I thought we were talking about alligators?)

I like the style! It's like nothing I have ever read but sometimes the slang got a little hard to understand. Try reading it to someone and see if they can. The slang adds a good touch but sometimes it can get a little much. I hope this helps!

Alright, Sirius- So, in the first stanza, line three, when you replacced the "n" with the "n", you messed it up because "mo" is supposed to be "more" but in sort of an accent. Line four. "Hurreh" is supposed to be "hurry", hence the title, "Catch 'Em QUICK". But written that way so you know how the people say it. Third stanza, fourth line. "Big ol' fish"? Cajun slang, pretty much. It's a poem. Do you expect the author to say "alligator" over and over again? I think the author did good. I understood but I guess that you proove some of the slang may be a bit inside. Understandable. Just to let you know.

Oh, I get it. :) thanks so much! :) but I would have to disagree with "Big Ol' fish" I would say crocodile or something eles but the fish to me just made no sense. It's my opinion, but I really do like the poem. :D

On the last line of the second stanza you wrought tomorrow "tehmrow" I know you did it intentionally but when I go to read it I want to read "temohow" but I don't know if thats just me. And I thought it weird that the third stanza is a lot longer then the rest. I really loved this poem!!

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
