Don't Do Me Any Favors! Genre : Drabble 100 words.

I awoke today without my testicles. Yesterday I had em. But my master decided to take me to the vet and the vet decided I am far better off without em. You see, I saw this female dog crossing the street and gave chase. Got hit by this truck.

The vet said my testicles made me do it. Said I will be better off now since I won’t chase female dogs and get hit by cars anymore. So when I woke up from surgery, my testicles were gone. Funny! I don’t feel like he did me any favor.

Micro fiction or flash fiction is short story genres that are defined by the number of words set as a limit. Publishers are often strict about a minimum and maximum word limit for such stories. Micro fiction can range from 50 to 250 words. There are also 500-, 1,000- and 1,500-word flash fiction niches for stories in magazines and mass anthologies.

Hey Radrook! I hope you don't mind if i leave you with a review!

Overall, I've never personally attempted to write such a short story/drabble before, so I was immediately intrigued by the concept of such a short story, only 100 words long! It takes an incredible amount of skill to write a story as well as you have in such a limited amount of words. So, firstly, I applaud you for that!

What I liked:

I rather enjoyed your writing style in this, how it takes on a sort of "casual" tone that really makes you feel like an actual dog is narrating! Compared to you use of language in some of your work, I am amazed by your ability to write in many different styles.

Funny! I don’t feel like he did me any favor.

I also rather enjoyed this statement, because its amazing how often we take matters into our own hands, and this sorta shows that we aren't necessarily
doing something good just because we think we are.

For such a short piece, I can't find any nitpicks or suggestions. I really enjoyed this piece, and to be honest, it made me chuckle a few times!

I hope to read more of your work soon!

Keep writing,

-Katja

Thanks for the review. Glad to know that it was entertaining. Actually, I chuckle as well every time I read it. LOL! :)

I liked the story, where helping the dog created an ironical effect on it. You have your own style when it comes to narration. The idea of the story was firm. The message I got is "Do it good or don't do at all."

The pathetic condition of the dog was funny when it uttered the these lines:
" So when I woke up from surgery, my testicles were gone. Funny! I don’t feel like he did me any favor."

I could actually imagine the voice of the dog mouthing these words. I enjoyed it.

Drabble! It's good that you introduce different genre and ideas in this site.
Thanks for sharing the links, those were informative and interesting.

Thanks for the feedback. What inspired me to write this was a documentary on a dog who actually did get hit by a vehicle while chasing a female dog across a street. They showed the vet repairing the damage and then casually and glibly slicing off the dog's testicles as if he were doping the dog a big favor. For some reason it just bothered me to see the casual way that he did it. I wondered how the dog would express himself if he could reason. So there you have it. LOL! Funny in a way but true. If I were a dog I definitely would not appreciate being emasculated that way. I mean, I prefer to take my chances with the traffic chasing female dogs than to be castrated.

It is to appreciated that the incident striked you to create an awesome work. Yes, BTW i agree with you, traffic to be blamed/ controlled. They must put some thinking to the safety measures in controlling the traffic and not these type of safety measures. LOL.

I should infinitely prefer a book.
