This Heart

In Poetry

This is one of the only poems I've written that does not have a rhyme scheme/ is free verse. Let me know what you think!

Inside a dark cage

made up of dry bones

and fickle flesh,

a worn-out cluster

of veins and emotions

lets out a resounding thud

as it slowly begins

to beat back to life.

This is great! I love the strong image, I can really see it. The feel of this poem is so...amazing. I love that how in 8 lines, you take me from sadness and depression to hope and almost happiness. I like the length, short and sweet and to the point. Your punctuation is very appropriate for the feel of this poem. The layout is great. You did a beautiful job on this. Keep writing! Please!

Hello Rachel, I am here to review your poem. I really enjoyed the imagery you brought to this poem. The poem topic is one I think many people, if not all, can relate to. About finally healing after something that really hurt you is a topic I think many write about in their lives, and I personally feel you excuted it brilliantly. The more I read the poem, the more meaning I can draw from it, and the more beautiful it becomes. I really have nothing bad to say about it. The imagery was good, and the poem stayed on topic, and made it's point quick and clear. Great job on it and keep writing! :) - Hsarver

I love this, just as Jokaly said, I love the fact that you can see someone trying to build them selves back up. KEEP IT UP!

This Heart
I see it as a poem about the character regaining its strength after a dark experience, one that is as terrifying as a dungeon. It is a beautiful poem. It expresses much feeling of a person wanting to heal from pain. I'm glad you wrote it.
Thank you RachelLeeAnn.

Thanks for your kind comment, Jokaly. :)
