Prom Night

Prom night is here
All my friends will have a blast
I'm sure.
But will they think of me
While they party?
Will they wish I was there with them
Or will they get lost in the glamour
And forget me?
No one asked me to go
So I never bought a ticket
I'm not one for social gatherings anyway
But still.
Should I have gone?
It's my senior year
I won't get another chance.
I told myself I didn't want to go
But as I see pictures of my friends all dressed up
With their handsome dates
I sit here alone
In the darkness of my room
And think
Should I have gotten over my fear
Of crowded rooms and extended conversation
For just one night?
I wonder how it made my friends feel
When I told them I wasn't going
Were they sad?
Did they care?
Maybe I shouldn't overthink it
But still
I feel so alone
But I've made my choice.

Hello fellow human!

I love this. I myself am not a very social person. In fact, I consider myself awkward in social situations. I tend to feel like the one who gets left out, and I will sometimes try to avoid being left out at almost any cost.

This poem shows real human thought and reasoning. and I really love that. So many poems have story's that don't sound like they are coming from the authors mouth, and tend to seem very... unrelatable. With this one however, you can tell the author was very thoughtful while writing it.

I might say that a little punctuation still could be used. but other than that, I loved it and I would love to read more of your works.

Hello, sunshine!
Before providing you with some constructive criticism, I want to first give you my own opinion/reaction to the piece, and, saying that, I related so much to this. I'm currently a junior in high school, but I've barely attended any bonding events or dances. The major reason why I don't go is because I'm always afraid that I'll end up sitting in the corner of the room, watching other people dance and talk while I just.. stare.. and be awkward...
Anyways, I personally connect to the amount of emotion that you include in the poem, and that's one example of your strong points. I love your use of rhetorical questions. They contribute to the anxiety the character feels throughout the piece.
In terms of weak points, I feel that it'd be super helpful to proofread before you publish your poem. I know, sometimes, with the format of poems and all, you often tend to neglect punctuation, but punctuation still exists. Your use of punctuation can especially guide the reader and set the pacing.
For example, one of the lines should have been,
"I wonder how it made my friends feel
When I told them I wasn't going. <---
Were they sad?"
In addition to this, I think you missed an s in "extended conversation".
Stay strong and stay wonderful!
Keep writing!

I will be honest here. You have some talent. I will give you that but, be careful with how you approach mental situations next time do it almost exactly like you have done this time. I love every thing your doing with the situation. I love how you go inside the mind of the girl and nail how she must feel. It is one of the best I have read tonight. Keep up the good work. I hope you go far with this talent. Best of wishes to you.

This reminds me of my prom last year. I contemplated not going, because of no date and what not. But I went, it was fun (although I walked into my crush's car that night. The awkwardest moment of my teenage years probably). Anyway, it made me think of my friend, who often does not go to social events.Which really does sadden me. I'll try to take her if she wants to go of course. And if this is about you, trust me, doing what you felt was right, is always the best way to go. I like this a lot. The poem was smooth all over, and that is pretty awesome.Great job c:

Hey dear !
I wanna review your poem.
Firstly , I loved the situation you have taken and how you have described about the fight going inside her mind whether to go or not to go. And this is the finest description you've carved in words. I liked the way you penned the mental unstable condition where she wants to go but being introvert she didn't as she thinks no one will miss her presence . And I just lost in the lines
" I sit here alone in the darkness of my room. "
Keep up the good work. Blessings!

Thank you so much for your review and your kind words! :D
