Lines.
All you see is lines.
.
You think to yourself, “I’ll stop pretty soon.”
You trick yourself, “I’m really not that bad.”
You tell yourself lies, “It’s just a release.”
But what happens when you find you can’t stop?
.
Lines.
All you see is lines.
.
Row after row of ugly red gashes
Markers of where you made all those slashes
Ran a sharp blade through your very own skin
You’ve done it so much, it’s hardly a sin
.
Lines.
All you see is lines.
.
You think to yourself, “I can control this.”
You trick yourself, “I can’t really hurt me.”
You tell yourself lies, “All these scars will fade.”
But what happens when it acts like a drug?
.
Lines.
All you see is lines.
.
Counting marks inside as you touch each one
And remember the first, when you begun
Feel pain again, like you have for awhile
And with tears in your eyes, gracefully smile
.
Lines.
All you see is lines.
.
Lines.

I must say you did a good job in portraying a very serious and empathetic mood and I commend you on that.
I always wondered what it feels like to cut but after reading this I gained a rather good understanding of how it feels.
I also love how you use examples of how people who cut lie to themselves and how their scars are merely just ”lines” and how they'll just fade and such.
It also makes me wonder if you cut yourself as well.
Do you?
Keep to yourself if you wish I don't mind at all.
But above all I am fond of this story and I do hope you can continue writing more like these.
I would love to read them.
I did cut, about two years ago when I was in grade seven. Thankfully, I got the help I needed and have never once considered going back!
My my.
Good for you!
Stay strong:-D
You have touched on this delicate subject beautifully. My favourite part has to be this bit

"And remember the first, when you begun feel pain again". This shows that you have an understanding of why people cut, I hope that this understanding hasn't come from personally experience. But if it has, I hope writing about it helps and know that I am always here for a chat.
You are right the scars do fade but I would of loved this poem even more had you mentioned the stress of trying to hide the cuts from people.
9/10 - I hope you keep writing
