Death Is Nearing.

In Poems

Each moment a second passes,
A second that was attached with our life.
Days are passing quickly I must say,
Time is passing, death is nearing.

No one is realizing, it’s true,
The body which has to return
Return to the one who created it.
You are one day gonna be no more.

Realize, One day you no more,
Deeply and truly think of it,
For I aint no perfect human.
I need to change my ways, my life.

Each moment a minute passes,
A minute that was attached with our life.
Months are passing, quickly I must say,
Time is passing, death is nearing.

We had been given time, though we never realized,
To be a better living being
But we destroyed it, destroyed it
With our fatuous ways.

So change yourselves before it’s too late
And never till the last moment wait
‘Coz who knows
Tomorrow could be your day.

Yes, death could be the next thing.

Good morning, Rbt! The name's Storm, and I'll be checking over your work on this lovely Review Day. :) Without further ado, allow me to plunge right in with some small errors!

"Days are passing quickly I must say, ... " Should be a comma before "I must say"; it signifies the necessary pause in the phrase.

"No one is realizing, it’s true,
The body which has to return
Return to the one who created it.
You are one day gonna be no more."
Some form of punctuation, most likely a comma, needs to be placed at the end of the second line because the "return" is repeated. The ending for this stanza is written rather strangely, also. Maybe switch around the placement of words a bit.

"Months are passing, quickly I must say ..." Again, your punctuation use appears to be confused. (Those little commas are frustrating sometimes, huh?) Here is the new thought including correct punctuation: "Months are passing quickly, I must say ..." Instead of putting a break before quickly, doesn't it make more sense to shift it afterwards?

"So change yourselves before it’s too late
And never till the last moment wait
‘Coz who knows
Tomorrow could be your day."
I suppose it is just a personal preference, but in the previous stanza, ("We had been given time, though we never realized,
To be a better living being
But we destroyed it, destroyed it
With our fatuous ways."
) you included yourself in this group of dying people, then change it to strictly speaking to the reader. For the sake of consistency, use forms of "we" in the final stanza and it will surely help your poem flow easier. Next, a comma is required directly following "wait" since "because" begins the next line. Lastly, " 'coz" doesn't make very much sense... If you are looking for the contraction of "because", you must use " 'cause"! :) What is " 'coz" shortened from? The misspelled version of "because"? Haha :P I understand that these types of things can get confusing, but hey! What are reviews for, my friend? :D

That sums up the fundamental side of your poem, Rbt! Now, onto the meat and potatoes of "Death Is Nearing."

In the end, I feel as if you included a great message (basically: live like you're dying) but the rest of the poem was lamentably lacking. I loved what you were trying to get across with the reader, but spice it up some! There is quite a lot of phrase repetition, and while repetition can be a strong tool when used correctly, you fell short. When a poem is as short and as content-missing as yours, try to focus on building up more foundation instead of repeating past lines. You can improve this poem greatly simply by adding to your poem's "meat" and including more colorful language.

Rbt, please understand that you've built a solid framework for your poem! However, continuing constructing upwards with it and you'll go far. If you have any further questions, feel free to inquire. So, as always: Write on! :D

Be less wordy: "You are one day gonna be no more" and "To be a better living being". And be more descriptive (in this sentence anyways, you do have some excellent sentences already). It's true that bigger isn't always better, but when you've got a piece of writing with nothing but skin and bones (is, am, we, were, that, when, how, be, the, are...) you detract from the originality and worth of your poem. I would suggest that you expand your vocabulary.

And I've noticed you've used the word "passing" a lot. That isn't always a bad thing, it can help emphasize a point and bring greater meaning to your work... However, it can also greatly reduce the quality. You aren't trying to put your reader to sleep, you are trying to capture their attention! And repetition can be a bad way to do this if used improperly...just something for you to think about. :)

"till" The word 'till' is technically used in stores to hold the cash register. It can also be used as "until" in a slang/colloquialistic kind of way, but when doing do (and I wouldn't advise this in literature unless doing so enhances your work) be sure to add the apostrophe just before: 'till. This indicates the use of slang.
One the same note, 'Coz is incorrect, even as a slang. The word it comes from is because, which can be shortened to 'cause.

Ok, now that I've got all of tips/criticism out of the way, here's the pros. :) Death is always an interesting topic and fun to write about because no one is properly able to explain it. It seems to be the thing that nobody really knows much about. It is in our human nature to fear it (and your poem does a good job portraying that), this makes your poem very realistic and relatable. Adding a realistic twist to poetry usually tends to bring out a common feeling that will cause your readers to empathize or agree with you.

I liked how you set your poem up, it's a good length and a fairly easy read. I can't say it left me wanting to read more (honest opinion), but I see some definite potential for it to develop and for your skill as a writer to be enhanced. I wish you the best of luck and hoped this helped. :)

Hello! I really liked your poem. Grammar was significantly great. I liked the mystery in the poem. You kind of had to think about each line and about what it meant. I love poems like this. I also adore that it's not a cheesy rhyme after rhyme after rhyme after rhym poem. Overall the poem is intriguing and I loved it a ton!
