Doll Face

In Poetry

Doll face, you’re a lie.

With your Barbie doll chest

And Bratz doll dress

You’re skinny enough to die.

.

Doll face, you’re alone.

With your painted up face

In this skanky rat race

You’ve lost what was your own.

.

Doll face, you’re content?

You hate your looks and weight.

Your anorexic fate

Will starve you to death.

.

Doll face, you are loved,

But not for what you wear.

You’ve got true beauty there

I’d rather see, beloved.

.

So, Doll face, take it off!

The makeup and the lies.

Your inner beauty cries

Out it’s had enough.

.

Doll face, you’re a mess.

Your makeup’s run, you’re cold.

But whatever mess, you’re mine to hold.

Come on, let’s get you dressed.

haha I loved this poem;it had me laughing. Especially at the line, "You’re skinny enough to die."

"Doll Face."

I thought maybe it was about love or something because of the title and then you read the first line, and it's hard not to smile at, "Doll face, you're a lie."

Though the reality of it is a little sad, I must admit. I don't think make-up is a horrible thing, I put a bit of it on myself, but I do agree that it is overused. I had a friend who dieted until she looked sickly and it was really hard to watch it happen.

My favorite part about this is...whoever was speaking to the "Dollface" was pleading her to not be like that. And I like how the author didn't leave the girl, but stayed even when she was a mess. Very nice!

I found this poem a bit funny but sadly true. Many women do dieting, make up all sorts of things to beautify themselves. They are not satisfied about how much beautiful God has made them though. They don't realise that beauty fades with age and true beauty lies in our personality. Really good poem. It's to the point and funny too!

This made me cry!!!!
This is really beautiful, how this person or 'doll' as you have her is one that has let society chose her life and made her into something that she isn't. It just shows that true beauty really comes from the inside and not how much make up you wear, what kind of clothes you have or how thin you are. The people who can see past all that fakeness are the people that make the real difference in a life that has been bent out of shape to fit an image that was never theirs in the first place.
Being true to who you really are and the people around you being able to see that shows me through your beautiful poem that we should look in the mirror everyday and say to ourselves "I am me, not them". And surrounding yourself with people that can see the real you means that they are the people who are worth being the perfect you for

I like this poem for a lot of reasons. Girls these days are so focused on looking pretty they lose sight of what pretty really is. They care to much about what other people think about them. This poem is every girl in my high school in one page. It makes me feel sorry for the women in the world who do this for people. The Barbie doll reference is great because everything about the girl in the poem is manufactured like a real doll. Everything is fake. But at the end you say 'your inner beauty cries' so does that mean that there is something genuine about her? If so that's good writing. I'm not much for poems but this would make a great short story. A girl who has inner beauty but is covered up by what society thinks is beautiful. You did a great job on this and I am going to take inspiration from it when I write a poem of my own. I really enjoyed reading this piece of fine work and I hope you'll read my short story one day. I would love to have your input. Thank you for writing this.

I LOVE THIS POEM!!! So many girls who think without makeup and fake bodies and hair they aren't beautiful, well, its a sad lie being spread around. This poem is perfect. True beauty is found within, a picture speaks a thousand words but actions trump them all. I didn't see grammar errors but that's not my area of expertise I'm afraid. You know how many girls starve themselves, slather makeup on, wear pratically no clothes and get hurt because some lie said they were ugly? A lot, and it is so sad. I refuse to wear makeup or excessive jewelry because I refuse to buy into that junk. Beauty is only in the eye of the beholder my friend. Beautiful poem, very nice, I'll be following you for more. I need points before I can write again, so I'll be doing lots of reviews, lol.

The necessary beauty in life is in giving yourself to it completely, only later will it clarify itself and become coherent.
