maybe it is the uncertainty that terrifies me
that makes my breath quicken
and self-consciously fix my hair
wondering at at this moment
as I pass you in the hallway
you with your friends and
me with mine
that you might just be thinking about
my new shirt and how brings out the tawny tinge
in my otherwise mousy hair
and this thought makes me stand a little taller
of course
the infuriating thing about
the lack of knowledge I possess
about this specific male’s frame of mind
is the possibility that his thoughts are on completely
the other side of the spectrum
that he could be thinking
how it is pathetic that my friends
even allow me in their presence
(I wouldn’t put it past teenage cruelty)
and it is that dubiety
that makes me hesitate
and look away

Let me say, I absolutely love this poem (which is how I star all my replies to poems that I absolutely love). I feel enormous empathy to this girl (I assume that it is a girl), especially in in this line--
This is me, almost every day.
And then, of course, there is these lines--
The lack of punctuation makes this poem good-- Like the girl (girl?) is completely unsure of everything.
Again, love it. Keep writing!
Thats a great poem!
it has a real life feeling to it
I love this. You capture my feelings so perfectly it freaks me out a little. I know the exact feeling of passing that perfect awesome super mega foxy awe some hawt guy in the hallway and feeling taller and prettier, then being passed and feeling........ sad.
I just adore that part. It feels wrong, how close this is to my feeling every SINGLE FREAKIN DEAKIN BLEAKIN TIME i pass HIM in the hallway. sometimes I think to myself "OH god he probably thinks my friends only hang with me out of pity he hates me no one likes me why do i even do this putting myself through this is a tad idiotic and even queer oh look there he goes...!"
I mean, some people think that liking a guy is pretty damn generic, but we die hard man fans know what the pain feels like. But also the rewards! Stick with it. <3
