A/N: This chapter goes directly AFTER Chapter 10: Asteria's First Day! I decided to add a little explanation as to why Ben and Juno are moving so quickly. Hopefully this will answer your questions! Feel free to look back at Chapter 10 to refresh your memory. Remember: this chapter is going BACK IN TIME, it is NOT THE LOCK-IN! Just letting you know :) Enjoy!
~
Ben
Asteria sits next to me at the lunch table, completely speechless. Girls are completely insane, I swear. Except Juno, of course.
All I’ve done is ask Asteria if Juno is coming to the Lock-In on Friday, and she seems... like, dead or something. I wave a hand in front of her face.
“Asteria?” She shakes her head at her salad, then composes herself. Okay, good, she’s moving. Phew!
“Yes, of course she’s coming to the Lock-In, Ben, why would you ask that?” she asks with a painted-on smile. Okay good, she’s fine, look, she’s smiling. That’s a good start.
“Well...” Suddenly the table goes silent and Asteria’s little minions are staring at us. “Uhm.”
“Guys, could you give us some privacy?” Asteria asks in a sickly sweet voice. She’s so nice to her friends. I smile. “Thank you,” she says as Henrietta and Lindsay lead the pack away from the table. She turns back to me with that smile.
“What were you saying?”
I clear my throat. My heart’s pounding like crazy. Just say the words, Ben, I think to myself. You’ve rehearsed this. You can do this.
I open my mouth to speak but before I can say anything, Asteria squeals like she’s just landed some great One Direction tickets. Man, those guys are talented. Wait, what?
“Yes, I’ll go out with you!” she squeaks. She jumps up and down in her seat. I’m confused.
“No, Asteria, I’m not asking you out,” I say over her excitement. She stops, her smile disappearing. It’s now or never.
“Look, Asteria,” I begin. “I’ve had a crush on Juno for, like, three years, like, since freshman year, and I need your help to, uhm, make the Lock-In special for her.”
I say it all in a rush, but I’ve never felt so sure about anything I’ve ever said. Asteria doesn't seem to understand, I guess, because her eyebrows are scrunched together the way they do when Henrietta says something stupid– which is often.
“Wha...” she cries. “What?”
“I’ve had a crush on Juno since freshman year,” I say simply. The words seem to come way easier once I start. “Every year for Valentine’s Day, she’s gotten an anonymous white carnation, right?”
At Meltdown, people give money to the Kind People’s Club to give carnations to people every Valentine’s Day. Red for love, white for secret admirer and pink for friendship. Sort of like those candy canes in Mean Girls (and if the football team ever asks, I’ve never seen that movie. Got it?)
“That was you?” she gasps. “I thought it was Oliver Garfield!”
“Oliver Garfield?” I say with a laugh. Oliver Garfield is a nerd from the robotics team that’s had a crush on Asteria since the fifth grade. But I wasn’t about to say that. “No, it was always me.”
Asteria is at a loss for words. I want to ask if she’ll help me but I think she needs some time to recuperate. I sink back into my thoughts while she finds her words.
Ninth grade, Juno started letting her hair grow out, and wearing it to the left side instead of down the middle. She started wearing makeup, which is nice and all I guess, but if I told her she didn’t need it, she’d never believe me. Ninth grade, she stopped growing, leaving her adorably shorter than me. Tenth grade, she got her braces taken off. On a Wednesday in May, she laughed at one of my jokes for the first time. I’d heard her laugh before, of course, but this laugh was directed at something I’d said and that was when I knew I wanted to make her laugh all the time– or, at least, as much as I could. I’m not very funny. In junior year, she came to prom in the most stunning sea-blue dress I’d ever seen, with a pretty, conservative neckline and thin spaghetti straps and a gorgeous slit up to just past her knee. I remember standing next to Asteria for pictures, being told to smile for the camera. All I did was smile at Juno, even though she couldn’t see me. I wish she had. God, I wish she had.
Asteria starts speaking.
“If you... If you want to impress Juno,” she says finally, in a dead voice far removed from the sweet voice she used with her friends, “set up a picnic. Juno loves picnics.”
“Will you help me?” I ask in a rush. I’m desperate at this point. I’m about as romantic as a tree stump.
“I’ll keep her from seeing or talking to you all week to give you time to set it up,” Asteria says. She looks a little upset but that’s probably just because she doesn’t want to keep Juno from me all week. She’s always thinking of other people.
“Thank you, Asteria,” I say. I start to put an arm around her shoulder. “Thank you so much, you’re such a good–”
“Don’t,” Asteria snaps suddenly. I take my arm back. Asteria decides something and then says, “Thank me. Don’t thank me, Ben. I’m all about helping my friends.” She smiles that smile again and I match it with my own.
“This is going to be awesome,” I say, my smile growing into a stupid grin. Asteria agrees quietly.

Hi there!
Oh thank you thank you thank you for this chapter! Not only because it answers some questions, but also because we get to see things from Ben's POV as well. I totally had this idea of him in my mind that he came up with this idea for the picnic all by himself and Asteria was just being a meanie head by hogging him for the week. But this shows us a different angle of the same situation.
Now like I said, I really like this chapter. But I do have one slight nitpick if you will, about it. I feel like there's way too much dialogue here and not enough narration. This is the first time that we're seeing things from Ben's perspective. It would've been nice to see more about him personally, help us to understand more about him.
I think your descriptions are really nice in this chapter. Especially when it comes to the part where Ben is nervous. You definitely show us his nerves rather than telling us about them which is great. And I could really imagine everything he was going through. Not to mention your descriptions of Asteria's feelings. This is written from Ben's perspecivev so he really doesn't know how exactly Asteria is feeling. But he does recognize her body language, which shows a lot of her emotions. And we can tell what she's feeling from the clues we get from that.
Keep writing!

Hey there! Yes I wanted this hidden chapter so badly! Hehehehehe
I love your narrators! They're so full of life and personality. I love how you give the reader glimpses of the character's thoughts and emotions. This chapter was needed to see the development of Ben's feelings for Juno. Ben's so oblivious haha
Review time:
"I say it all in a rush, but I’ve never felt so sure about anything I’ve ever said. All I can picture is Juno’s face in my mind, and she looks... Angry? Wait, this isn’t in my mind. That’s not Juno’s face. That’s Asteria’s face. And she looks angry."
This paragraph is a little confusing and I had to read it like four times before I got what was actually going on. Maybe consider re-wording.
"Just say the words, Ben, I think to myself. You’ve rehearsed this. You can do this. "
So you use italics here to show Ben's thoughts but the whole chapter is Ben's thoughts except for dialogue and action. I don't think the italics are needed here.
Conclusion:
Love everything else and I actually love you
Keep it up!
Edits have been made accordingly!
Thanks bae, love you too
YO! Confused here for a review!
I don't know what to say. Because this is so damn good!
Okay. I sort fell sad for Asteria. Even though I am a hardcore Juno-Ben fan its sort of heartbreaking to see this happening. I mean yeah okay, Ben has had a crush on Juno forever. But Asteria has had a crush on Ben forever and......... Ugh I give up.
Well, you did a pretty good job of describing the whole thing. I commend you for that. And also for the frequent updates. Woo Hoo!!!!
That's it I think.
Keep writing honey!
This hidden chapter is very exciting, Royal. I love how you're describing Ben's feelings for Juno and the metaphors and such are properly used
I'm so sorry I didn't review it after I read it! I was working on something else, but I'm here now!!
I must know what it happens next.
Like IamTraunt, work on the commas...there are a few run-on sentences but nothing major. After all that could be just describing more of Ben's character...he can't create neat, organized thoughts. If that's what you intended, I commend you for the use of dialogue in the chapter!
One other thing that sort of bothered me (in a really teensy way)
"“If you... If you want to impress Juno,” she says finally, in a dead voice far removed from the sweet voice she used with her friends, “do a picnic. Juno loves picnics.”" I don't think people "do" picnics...perhaps change do to have to make it more grammatically correct. I don't think it bothered anyone else, but I just feel like you should change that.
My favorite line: "All I did was smile at Juno, even though she couldn’t see me. I wish she had. God, I wish she had." Now that I have a Mr. Alexander Ludwig in my head, I'm crying at the issue of Juno not being able to see Ben. She needs to know he likes her!!! Argh you are making me frustrated, Royal
I also commend you about how frequently you update this. Like yes!!!!! XD
The comma thin was just a character quirk of Ben's XD
<3
As for the picnic thing, I'll fix that.
Thank you so so so much!! Agh y'all's reviews make me so happy
Oh no. Oh no no no!
Please tell me you did not foreshadow here:
I'll cry. And you do not want that. I cry ugly.
Hey! IamTraunt here to review!
Can I just say... Lol. This was certainly a very witty chapter. It was brilliant.
So funny. Especially here:
Nitpicks!
Wow. That's a lot of commas. I suggest breaking these up into separate sentences.
Spoiler
G'aaaaaagh! What are you doing to my feels. You keep saying dead. I'm getting really worried!
Also, this is kind-of confusing. Why not put: 'her dead voice lacking the sweetness it previously had'?
Um.... Can't find others... Wow.
Characters!
Aw, poor Asteria. I felt really sorry for her in this chapter. She was so happy that Ben had been with her and around her - then BOOM! Ben tells her that he fancies Juno and that he's had a crush on her since forever and that he doesn't want to go to the Lock-in with her. You describe this really well. The way you talk about Asteria's reaction is realistic and completely reasonable. I'd be screaming. I'd grab Ben by the collar and shake him senseless. (But that's just me).
On the other hand, you describe Ben's feelings towards Juno epically - yes epically - the way you describe him going head over heels for her and how he noticed all these little things about her (And all these little things. Heh.) its really adorable. It makes up for his total heart crusher moment with Asteria.
Storyline!
Once again, an absolutely fantastic piece (which is the norm for you, m'dear)! I love how you write - it reminds me of a book called 'diary of a parent trainer', as you write like the events are taking place and how your characters feel (I know this doesn't make sense but if you have read that book by Jenny Smith you'll get what I mean). Its so dramatic! Agh. Your killing me. (And I don't mean because you MIGHT be foreshadowing). I'm gonna cry if something happens to her. But I will still love your story no matter who you kill and who you make upset because there hearts just been crushed. Its all part of the drama!
Well done! Keep on writing
Asteria doesn't die.
I promise.
I'm glad you liked it! Your reviews always make my day brighter, traunt. I'll keep you posted XD
Thank you so so so much!!!
Good because if Asteria died, I don't know what I would do....
Aw
that's sweet! You brighten up my day!
And phew... That's good. xD
Your welcome.
