A word of wisdom can save us from this wasteland
where ignorance roams free.
Its power can end the nightmare of
famine.
A clear mind could solve every problem
we face.
Yet futile feuds,
fueled by nothing more than rage
keeps these words from being heard.
Their frenzy will cause our world to crumble.
Every innocent person annihilated.
If words flowed as freely as blood
this world would be a paradise,
a place of no destruction.
A vision of purity.
Perhaps our generation will speak those words,
and be the blade which strikes down the unenlightened rulers
of our home.
Only we can end these tragedies,
these atrocities we face with each passing moment.
And only we can restore honor to our names.
With a word of wisdom we can be great,
yet if no word is spoken we will rot,
and decay to dust.
Inevitably we will fade if our greed continues to grow.
If no one is there to quench its thirst
with a single word of wisdom.

In comparison to WordsInMyMind's poem about Wisdom this made me imagine a writer sitting, leaning against a tree, and writing this down on in his notebook. The reason for that is that it reminds me of works like Lermontov's. People who speak about the cruelty of the world, who point out all its bad, leaving everything good look like paradise.
This stanza pattern is kind of new for me and as it wasn't a rhyming pattern I just went with my usual flow. Despite the lack of rhyming that I'm so used to, this poem speaks with emotions thanks to the well placed words. Same as the other poem about wisdom, I'd rate this high, so good job and keep writing!
I really enjoyed reading this poem, this really expresses a lot of emotion, and it shows how I (the reader) feels about the world. Keep writing (:

Wow. You definitely put this poem in the right category- great job!
I really enjoyed reading this, especially because, though it doesn't contain a rhyming structure, you still have it flow easily. In my experience that is very hard to do without rhymes^_^.
The only thing I would suggest is that in the end stanza you add one more line like, "If no one is there to quench its thirst,
with a single word of wisdom." or something like that.
Overall, awesome poem- keep writing!
