In All My Poetry

I love everything about...Yoruba.

No, that’s not right.

I love everything about...ewes.

As in the female sheep--no!

I love everything about....yams.

No, I hate yams.

I love everything about...ukuleles.

What fun--no, wait! Wait.

I’ve gotten off track.

What I’m trying to say is that

I love everything about...about...you.

There, I said it.

Radrook here for a review. Please note that I am striving to help. However, if by any chance I offend then I apologize.

Thanks for sharing this poem about someone who who is having difficulty articulating what he or she means. It seems as if the person is in a state of confusion and really doesn't know why he is so attracted to the other. Perhaps because she is a Nigerian Yoruban? Because she slightly reminds him of a ewe? Because of the way she cooks and serves yams or the way she plays the ukulele? Finale realizing that none of these ALONE are the reason he realizes that it is simply because she is whom she is and that he likes these things because they are associated with her. She makes them special.

Now, the poem could continue by explaining exactly how she is connected with these things and makes them so special. But to me it stands well enough alone and is a very charming poem. IMHO.

Hey there Kat here to review for review day :)

I love Meg, and your work so I saw this and just had to ... wait what does that say XD

That first line I read as " I love everything about your tuba" and I died laughing . But I get it now, this is a really fun and creative poem and this is SO TRUE when you love someone the phrase "you look cute because " "cute looks very you pizza" or something crazy . This was just really refreshing and inspiring , I think it would be fun if I tried writing something with a silly spin like this . I'm still laughing XD

Cute <3

This is a cute and humorous poem. At first I was thinking what is actually happening right now, I am so confused but then the last two lines made complete sense. I think the constant 'changing the subject' is relatable to a lot of people, which makes it funny but also painful. I've got nothing else to say, it was great. Keep writing more like this! :D

This poem is very nice.
The format is cute, and I appreciate how you going back to "I love everything about.."
The ending is marvelous. I believe that's what really made it funny, even though the whole poem is rather humorous.
I also find the way that you used your words to make this poem sound a bit like a conversation. Like something someone might actually say. That was rather interesting.
Thank you for a fine poem.

This is funny cause I am Yoruba... Anyway to review:

The poem seemed a bit too ''blanch'' for me lacking colour and enough descriptions; it felt more like a skeletal piece for something much lyrical. I can understand the originality you're are trying to convey based on the simplicity the poem emits but I feel you should have explored your subject matter a bit more. Let's get into the persona's mind and understand what causes her discomfort in expressing her true emotions. I do feel that you should work a bit more on this because it gives off a playful atmosphere. On the other hand, I do commend you choosing this subject matter as it makes it relatable for readers; as many can connect with it.

Tend your flame...

Noted. As I was writing this, I also thought it was very beige-colored, but I wasn't sure how to fix it. I'll try some more poems in this style with your comments in mind. Thank you!

Lets start off this review with your rather fitting title: 'Articulation'.

Too be honest I had no idea what the words meaning was. I actually had to Google it. After I did I noticed how well it actually fit to the poem. I love very misleading titles such as this but I've only ever seen them in rather sombre poems such as 'Glasgow Sonnets' and 'Dulce Decorum Est'. So this was a welcomed change. Especially since I've been looking at pretty bleak poems all day.

The feature I loved the most about the poem was how the character here seemed very realistic. They're rather likeable too. The characters nervousness shines through this poem clearly.

I love everything about....yams.

No, I hate yams.

I love everything about...ukuleles.

What fun--no, wait! Wait.

The humour in this poem is also done very well. You achieved this by using ellipsis. Normally it's used to build up or create tension so again this is rather misleading - in a good way.

So all in all, I loved this poem and it's cheeriness.

Wow, thank you for going to all that trouble! I'm glad you like it!

Sunshine here to review...

Aww. This is cute. I'm the same way.... Lol good job!im pretty much guy repellant so I relate to this poem very well. I love the title, it fits the poem perfectly. I love this line:

"I love everything about...ukuleles.

What fun--no, wait! Wait.

I’ve gotten off track."

That reminded me of Stargirl (if you have never read Stargirl I highly suggest you do) you kept the readers attention it was short and fun I liked it a lot. I look forward to reading your future works. Keep on writing!

I have read Stargirl and I love that book! It's been so long...perhaps I should read it again...

I'm about to reread it for the hundredth time :)

Such a cute poem! Hilarious. Loved it!

In the winter months, gale storms in Svalbard can reach wind speeds of 130 km/h. Accompanied by or following snowfall, such storms can reduce visibility dramatically, more so in the winter months of the polar night. During these storms, travel is not advised.
