Some Christmas Encouragement

Children run through fields of snow

Up to their knees, their smiles seem to glow.

I sit in my house, wrapping money in paper,

It’s all they care about, but what’s new there?

Christmas time is a time for giving.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a joy of living!

Just, people nowadays are excited for nothing.

Toys and clothes, is that really loving?

Here’s the part where I tell you about my Christmas.

Roasting chestnuts over a fire, engulfed in niceness.

That’s not quite how it goes, as it would be expected,

I still get toys and clothes, and I don’t like nuts roasted.

There is still one part that can be genuine to the core.

Christmas spirit! Just let your heart soar!

There’s nothing like it, but catching it is hard.

True Christmas spirit doesn’t come in a gift card.

I experience it through the joy of others.

Loved ones yelling “CHRISTMAS!” to replace usual mutters.

The excitement of “Dad’s gonna love this!” in the Christmas time shopping.

Decorating the tree while its needles are dropping.

Singing those carols that have been earworms since summer,

And sleeping in on Christmas break? Definitely not a bummer!

The month of December can bring such a treat,

Once you have the spirit, pass it on to those you meet!

There isn’t a person alive, who doesn’t deserve Christmas spirit,

Or having a childhood of “Sleigh bells! Did you hear it?”

See, just as those children playing in snow,

My smile resonates to let others know,

Christmas time is here and with it, a ball.

Here is where I say, Merry Christmas to you all!

I pass my joy of the holidays to all who hear me,

And my love to all who stay near me,

For those who stay, I could care less what’s in the box!

Well, that’s a lie, but my point is not yet lost!

Enjoy the holidays for what they are;

The birth of baby Jesus, a time of family near and far.

To gather ‘round and share a laugh or two.

To celebrate the life that’s been given to you!

If you’ve taken nothing from what I’ve said, have a listen to this;

There’s more to Christmas, than what’s on your list.

This is just beyond amazing. Love it so much. It is making me feel more excited for Christmas than I feel right now. The words were just amazingly fantastic. The spirit of Christmas is definitely here, I can feel it, especially while reading this poem. I have no criticism on this. I loved the word roasting chestnuts, just reminds me of one of my favorite Christmas song: "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire." This piece is fabulous. You did such a fabulous job as a writer to write this piece. I must thank you for writing this such inspirational Christmas poem. Great job all in all. Keep it up!

What can I say?

Wonderful! The words simply drifted off the page and the ending was great! As far as I can see, there are no negative parts to this poem I can spot out.
Though it isn't the best, you're definitely getting somewhere with that many words on that page. And wow! It's a poem! I think the amount of lines you put on this page is reasonable considering that they rhymed and you didn't add any words that didn't go/didn't have an importance.

If you've taken nothing from what I've said, have a listen to this;

There's more to Christmas, than what's on your list.

This really caught my attention. Great conclusion to your poem and I look forward to more of your works.

Hey joallover!

This was a really great poem. Exactly what I think every Christmas. There's more to it than just buying pretty stuff with money! (That's why my family doesn't give gifts on Christmas). Anyway, back to the poem.

[ I sit in my house, wrapping money in paper,

It’s all they care about, but what’s new there? ]

I absolutely loved these two lines. Absolutely. I liked how you portrayed toys and clothes as 'money'.

Many of your lines can touch the hearts of many people. Such as this;

[Singing those carols that have been earworms since summer,]

I know, those are so annoying. Why would you be celebrating Christmas MONTHS before it actually comes? :/
There are so many other lines that I loved, but it would take a long time for me to copy/paste all of them. So let's go onto the overview of the entire poem.

At first, it seemed like one of those 'Christmas is such a happy time! We all enjoy and celebrate it!' poems, but my thought quickly changed. It was at the third line when I realized what your intention was, and I was smiling. I am so glad that I read through this poem without backing off because I thought it was another happy Christmas celebration poem.

The lines flow extremely well, with all the examples and metaphors and symbolistic words.

I was smiling like an evil maniac throughout the whole poem, except for the ending...

[There’s more to Christmas, than what’s on your list.]

Wow, that was a really good ending. It makes people rethink about many things that they're doing. And if a writing makes somebody do something, it's really good or really bad. In this case, it's really really good. Maybe it's just me but I've never celebrated Christmas with gifts. So I could dive deeper into this poem with my own thoughts that didn't contrast yours.

Nice job, overall! Keep on writing!
