Fire and Water

Fire

This heat rages deep within us, wild and free.
We don’t know what surrounds us like a glove
Or what fuels it, or even what it could be.
How do we know for sure that this is love?

I want this to be love, I know you can tell,
But I want to make sure this will inspire
You to forever keep me under your spell.
Should we ever try to tame this fire?

Water

This spell flows deep within us, long and wide.
We don’t know what keeps us going up stream
Or where we’ll wind up, or if it’s worth the ride,
But we know we’ll keep swimming in this dream.

I want this to be our river, belonging to no other.
We’re stuck in the center of this giant teeter-totter,
Trying to climb off, but afraid of losing one another.
Maybe we should jump off and surrender to the water.

Hi! Snippyfemme here to review!
Wow! I'm impressed. When I saw the title I was expecting the read some cliche poem that restated every subpar metaphor for love known to human kind. But it wasn't. This piece is lovely. I really liked your take on love and water. This poem quickly won me over. I usually don't like rhyming but I think you did a good job of not making it too sing songy and the lines didn't feel like they were being forced to rhyme. I love the imagery of the Water part. Not only does it evoke an image in the reader's mind but it allows the reader to feel the intense emotion surrounding the image.

Although, as aforementioned, I think you did a really nice job with the rhyming, I would love to see what you can do with this concept and others without the constraints of rhyming.

I hope this helped even a smidgen. :) Keep writing!

HEELLO ghost,
Fire and water, eh? Two opposing elements that are famous for their everlasting war against each other. One is smooth, calm. The other is rough, wild. Both are untamed. Floods, wildfires. Tsunamis, more wildfires. Nature is angry.
I was loving this poem until you mentioned love. Then I just thought this was another love song. Love is such a popular topic, it's almost lost its meaning. Although there are different interpretations, the key ideas start getting repetitive and there's no fun in that. Just a tip- instead of directly stating the word "love", approach it in a different way without using the word. For instance, you could use some other symbol to replace it.
I like how you separated Fire and Water into two passages, almost like two different poems. These two elements are very different in deed. Mixing them up will only cause havoc. So congratulations for preventing that! Then again, I may be totally wrong because I'm a pretty crappy writer.

Go with the flow,

Night kaizer

They were two separate poems

This is Nikayla here for a review!

I enjoy dual poems that often go together or follow contrasting themes, and this is one of the classic ones, fire and water, so let's jump right into the review! The first poem we have here is the one based off of fire. We see that the both of them are formed out of two quatrains each and if you put them together they form a 4x4 poem, which is something that interests me. The first stanza starts us off with the general fire imagery that we see in poetry a lot of times and I would have liked to see more originality with it.

We always get the thought and idea that fire is something that's supposed to symbolize passion or lust or something other of that sort, and I'd like to see it in a new perspective. Maybe even make it so the roles are flipped and instead of the fire being something that's unsteady but powerful, you can make it calm and gentle like one of a candle if you want to. It's more of a suggestion since I've seen so much imagery that has fire being passion and lust and it gets old over time.

Delving further into these two stanzas, I wasn't that impressed with the rhyme that you use in the poem, it was more just there. You can leave it in the poem if you want because it does work for the most part, I just didn't see there to be a reason to have it in here. I would have liked to see more vivid imagery in the first stanza, perhaps chemicals burning or the mention of ash. The second stanza is one that I enjoyed more though it's still similar to the first because it gets the message across in a stronger manner.

The second poem goes back to tackle on "this spell" which was sort of touched on in the first poem as well. I think the imagery in this poem is one that's stronger than the other poem especially the last line of the first stanza as well as sort of riding the current. Something that I wished you touched more on is how they're sort of 'going with the flow', for lack of a better line to describe it. How is the spell long and wide within them? Does it branch out from their heart and go to their fingertips or perhaps is it like a river that splits into a "Y" shape? The second stanza is a little weaker in terms of imagery, but it works well enough with the ending being a stronger part of the poem.

Overall, it's an interesting set of poems. I hope I helped and have a great day!

Hello;

It Madison again back for another review. I just like to say even though this one was shorter than the last one i read i still got the point. I can actually see this becoming a song. Another great work. Well done. Can't wait to see what you are gonna write again.

:) Thanks

Hello there. I hope to give a fair review.

When I think of fire my mind is filled with excitement and it just attracts me. Even though I like the meaning of fire as a 'rebellion' or as 'rage', I still liked how you connected it to love by telling it to be a spell. Really simple and really good. I didn't see any grammar mistakes and punctuation too looks accurate. Great work!

This was a wonderful poem, it sounds like the character is under the 'spell of love' and gets into trouble. It can be related to everyday love where someone gets in trouble from trouble. It is very relatable to many people. It dives down into a deeper level of maturity and intrest.
The only problem is that maybe don't name the title 'Fire' , but maybe 'The Spell of Love' or 'Under the Spell'. Also, try to make it seem like a spell more. Overall it was AMAZING! Hope you keep writing.
