Stalker

Alright you,
What do you have with me?
Why do you keep following me?
Why is it that everywhere I go
You’re there?

Stop appearing in my way
And slipping behind houses and streets.
I know that when the day is no more
You have someone watch me
(He’s not very discreet, you see?)

You forever chase me,
‘til the edge of the Earth;
On those long journeys,
As I sleep in the backseat,
You flicker behind my eyelids
And make pretty oranges and pinks.

Don’t you see it bothers me?
Yes, I did enjoy it
But that was years ago-
Before I knew that the world spun around you,
Before, when I’d say:
“Let’s have a race!”
That was years ago.

So will you stop stalking me?
And mind your own business.
Don’t follow me around.
Where are you anyway?
Where are you when I need you?
Through the cold,
Or the rain,
Or a hurricane?
Where are you when I need you?

Instead you find it pleasurable
To make shapes on the ground and walls.
Dark shapes.
Different shapes.
Long shapes.
Short shapes.

It all depends on how you’re feeling
Yet you’re always in the mood for stalking me.
But it’s not all you do that annoys me:
You bring me light, warmth,
Happiness.

Even though I hate when you stalk me,
I really must admit
That without you
There would be no life.
You are the beginning of every food chain-
You are the source of life.
You are the Sun:
The East-rising stalker.

Spoiler! :
Ummm, yeah. Don’t ask me what was going through my head when I was writing this. Oh! Right! Yeah it was because I was remembering when I was little and I used to think that the Sun followed me. O_o I know I’m wasn’t the only one. It wasn’t a really serious poem.
Spoiler! :
So yeah. ‘Like’ if you like and comment and stuff…

When I was little I used to think the sun followed me too! I loved all the metaphors... It sounded like you were talking about a guy but then the last stanza brought it all together. It may have not been a serious poem, but it was genius. Pure genius. I enjoyed this piece immensely. I have nothing to critic but I just wanted to say you did a fantastic job. :)

Wow! That was freaky, but really good. I like how "the stalker" could be a person, or another thing entirely. It gives a dimension of freedom to the reader.
Though I don't think you needed the spoilers at the end, BUT they made it interesting to see what was hidden by those little buttons.
Keep up with the writing! :)

Yes I liked your poem :). I thought it was strange at first, but I kept on reading because I was curious. Your stanza's aren't the same in numbers, but isn't that what poetry is all about? To break free from the norm and expressing yourself through originality?

Keep on writing. Oh and I haven't received a letter from Hogwarts either :).

It's like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.
