Chapter 5:

Two weeks later

~God bless the broken road that lead me straight to you

-Rascal Flatts~

(Abigail)

If this is what AP is like, I'm going to hate it. Abby thought, looking down at the sheet of paper in front of her. She scribbled the answer on the paper and turned her head to release the muscles that were screaming from the strain of bending over her homework for hours.

"Knock, knock." Nick said, leaning against the door frame and looking at her.

"Hey." She said, tossing her aburn hair over her shoulder to look at him.

"Whatcha' doin?" He said, crossing the room to look over her shoulder. He curled back upon seeing the complicated math sheet in front of her. "And I thought Doctor Prep that I got off the internet was hard."

She rolled her eyes and leaned back against her pillows, flexing her fingers.

He leaned back to, settling his arm around her shoulders, the warm arm putting pressure on her shoulders. She shrugged him off, giving him a look.

"What?" he said innocently, then he grabbed her iPod and plugged it into the docking speakers. She shivered as cold air blew through the house, and grabbed her big fluffy fleece blanket.

Nick chose the song and started dancing, spinning his arms in an over enthusiastic air guitar.

Abby rolled her eyes and bent back over the math, determined to get through this page. Against her will, she started bobbing up and down, singing to Click Five's Just the girl.

"Turn that off!" she demanded, staring him down. He had found her Beatles rock band guitar and was pretending to play it, jumping up and down like KISS or Aerosmith.

"No! You’ve been holed up in this room for hours! Take a break! Come on!"

She sighed. Maybe he was right. Maybe she did need to let loose.

Standing up, she pulled the drums from the rock-band set out and began banging up and down with the sticks. To soon the Just a girl had stopped and Rascal Flatts was playing.

"I set out on a narrow way many years ago

Hoping I would find true love along the broken road

But I got lost a time or two

Wiped my brow and kept pushing through

I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you"

Rascal Flatts's lead singer sang out, his voice mellow and sweet.

"Dance with me!" Nick said, holding out his hand, dropping the electronic guitar on Abby's blue denim bed-spread.

She took his hand and wrapped his arms around his neck.

Turning on the spot Nick and Abby's voice sang together,

"Now I'm just rolling home

Into my lover's arms

This much I know is true

That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you"

Abby gasped.

"What?" he said, leaning down so that his forehead rested against hers.

"Nothin.." She was breathing hard, and could feel her heart swelling in her throat, what’s the matter with me? She thought, why can't I breathe?

She felt herself rise onto her toes, so that she and Nick were almost nose to nose.

"I won't hurt you." he whispered, "I promise."

"I know."

And then she was kissing him and he was kissing her, and it was blissfully peaceful and soothing.

When they broke apart, the last lines of Bless that broken road was warbling out of the speakers.

"That God blessed the broken road

That led me straight to you,"

... This is great. I love reading it. It's so obvious how true friends they are. It's the kind of friendship you love reading about. I don't really know what else to say, It made me smile while I was reading it. I want to see more of this story. Nick is so much better than Jake. I can't really say much, I haven't read many romances, but this is great. Keep writing, I'll keep reading!

Hello again. :)

"Whatcha' doin?"

I think you forgot an 'h', but I'm not sure if you meant to write it that way.

This was a cute chapter, and I'm looking forward to reading the next! It was a short chapter, but I don't think it's bad since you don't want to write any longer and ruin your intense ending. ;)

Also, at the end of the previous chapter, there was a power failure and I was looking forward to reading the rest of that, but you go and write something entirely different. So, I would like to see some connections between the chapters. Of course, it's good to skip a period when you change chapter, but sometimes, it's also good that when you do, you somehow mention the events of the last chapter. Well, I like it when writers do that. ;)

Keep writing!

Why can't I put the entire Bee Movie in the quote generator? Would you prefer if I put in the Shrek script instead?
