18+ Violence Mature Content

In Poetry

Warning: This work has been rated 18+ for violence and mature content.

A/N: I'm not sure that I got this out the way I wanted to, but I tried.  I'm not even sure people won't take this the wrong way.  But here it is, if you understand it you understand it.

a woman's weapon is her clothes- not pearls, jeans

leather jackets and hiking boots

"don't answer the door in your pajamas" mom's said

"what if there's a man,

what if he sees you,

your bra nowhere to be found;

don't answer the door in your pajamas"

a woman's weapon is her friends- not the gossipy ones, her sisters

unrelated, but realistic; sensible and kind

"don't answer the door in your pajamas!"  they'd say

"what if it's your uncle

and your shorts are worn through?

what if he lingers a bit at your thigh?"

a woman's weapon is her man

is it, now?

answering the door while she's still in bed-

would he, now?

purple blossoms at her wrists and shoulders

"don't answer the door in your pajamas"  he'd threaten

shoving her off sanity

dignity

confidence

a women's weapon is a bullet to the head

but only when there's no cure for the tears-

when nobody cares what she wears to the door.

Holysocks; Lettersnumbersonly. Imma going to review your poem. Imma going to review your soul. Same dif. That is some poem you got yourself there. By the title I thought it would be humorous, boy was I wrong. That defiantly could be something to change. But don't. You think like me; catch the reader off guard, Ich mag.

A woman's weapon is her man
is it, now?
This poem goes through a plethora of touchy subject matter, and for no particular reason I'll start here. A woman's man threatens her, shoves her off sanity, and all that. That's pretty messed up, in an artistic way, so the cool way. I mean theirs nothing I can really review, this being a poem besides grammar, but I use grammar, or lack their of, in my poems; so it doesn't really matter to me. Ill move on.
A woman's weapon is her friends-
That's nice, and a lot less sad, until you get to the creepy Uncle thing. Anyway. I don't see anything that needs revisement, but thank you for more bad feels. Finally:
A women's weapon is a bullet to the head
. Women's, should be Woman's, but besides that... nice, or gross. Its a sad reflection of modern society, continuing to oppress women. This poem achieves pretty much everything a poem can achieve. So good on ya.

This review does't even need an intro, lets get right to it!

I want to start off by saying; I did not expect this to go how it did. But that's not a bad thing. Being a guy (shout out to guys), it's difficult to understand how clothes can be a woman's weapon, confidence, and defense. But after reading your poem I have gained an understanding.
I've gotten a few ideas after reading your poem, one being how you might think men would take advantage of a woman if she's not confident and protective? It's not so true about all of us :P
I really do like the repetition of the "don't answer the door in your pajamas" followed by the saying that would relate to who is speaking to the woman. It really adds character to the piece.
One thing I feel like was just a smack in the face was the ending, obviously suicide. I don't know if it was meant to be so "BAM" right in the face. If it was, then girl, you did a great job. If not, I would consider explaining the emotions going through the woman's mind. Every little detail or maybe just a few lines of it.
Another thing I do like is the verse about the sisters. It really makes sense into a part of a woman's life, directly relating to he confidence.
Overall great work! Can't wait to read more of your stuff!

Thanks for the review! Glad it sorta made sense! XP

Hey, NewYork here for a review.

I think that this poem speaks to females a lot because it is true, what we wear is our weapon. How our confidence is taken because of what may or may not happen to us that is out of our control. I'm not sure if I understood what you were saying completely sometimes but overall I think you got the point across. this is a very powerful poem and breaks my heart, especially at the end when you say our weapon is a bullet to the head. There is a very powerless tone and the poem gives a glimpse into the lives of women and what we have to deal with based on our looks. Keep on writing, I loved this. (:

Thank you! And sorry; I forgot to reply to this!!!

Woah, that escalated real quick. I thought i was reading some comedic stuff then you're talking about suicide. Anyways, i liked this, the repetition of the three verses. I'd just say, add some definition between the verses, and you're golden.

Thanks!- sorry, I forgot to reply to this!!! D:

seeing this tag and going "oh what's this? :)" then getting slapped in the face with shady's good grammar is the worst thing that's ever happened to me
