I have been a member here on this site for more almost 7 years now, and I have been dreading that birthday that will eventually come along to make it less appropriate for me to remain here in my safe haven. I have loved this site with all my soul, and to make it a bit easier on myself I decided to write a poem in commemoration of Young Writer's Society. I hope you enjoy. Any criticism is welcome, as anyone who recognizes me will know (though most of my friends have aged out) I don't spend more than 5-10 minutes on any first draft. Thank you for reading!
I am amazed at the growth we’ve made,
With new things coming every day.
Changes to take your breath away,
And talent to humble even the great.
I was here when the numbers were few,
And even when the creators were “new.”
I remember the old, lost friends,
Replaced now by the younger gen
We welcome you with open arms,
And provide a place free of harm
For you to express your deepest thoughts,
What makes you happy and distraught.
Though many of us have grown away,
Though many can no longer stay,
There will always be a safe place,
Here at YWS.

I really like this poem. I also love how you wrote it. It makes me feel happy and I feel welcome.I haven't been a member of this site for a very long time but I already feel like I'm completely welcome here. Everyone on this website truly doesn't have talent and I'm glad you told us all this in your poem. This poem actually makes me want to write more ha! Anyway I really want to read more of your work and good job c:
Hello!
Thank-you for this poem. It touched my heart. I thank-you for being there before and making this site what it has become today. I thank-you for helping make this a safe place. I thank-you for teaching the new generation your knowledge and your secrets. I thank-you for being you, a member of YWS.
I won't even try to nit-pick this poem. It's just too personal and heart-touching. Visit us, the new generation anytime!
This poem touched my heart, especially the knowledge of this being a safe place, and truly, a safe place, it will always be!
Thank-you for this.
Happy Review Day!

Awesome poem
And if your age is the one that it actually says on your profile, then I'm older than you and I just joined the site! :O

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this poem. The message is straightforward and meaningful. You sue clear language and there is an emotional aspect that leads the reader through the poem.
I love the lines:
" For you to express your deepest thoughts,
What makes you happy and distraught."
These two lines really capture the purpose of this site. You summed it up right there! I've only been here for a week but this place is a community and most people are warm/friendly
This is a lovely poem and please don't leave the site anytime soon. The younger generation needs mentors!
Aww, I've been on this for less than year! I really like this poem, and I agree YWS is best. I'm so glad I found it. How long has this site been running.
Are you leaving? You talked about age, but I hope that isn't the only reason. I know of a lot of people who are much older.
I am not leaving the site yet, but I know that the original intent was for the site to be under the age of 20 predominantly, and I've been wondering about the upcoming years when I know that it would be proper for me to seek other writing havens not geared towards the younger generation.
I understand. Although you know, having older writers like you around can be helpful for the younger writers.
I might hand around to help, but I don't see it fit for me to continue to contribute my own work. I would love to hang around for the sake of critiques and reviews, however, and I might do just that.
That's mainly what I was thinking. As much as my reviews might help, there are others likes you, better capable to give better quality reviews.
Hi, Cheetah here.
This is so beautiful- I love it! It's amazing that you've been here for seven years- I've yet to be here for 7 months. Even though I don't really know you, I'm sad to hear that you are leaving.
These were my favorite lines:
This poem was very meaningful- it really showed how much you care about YWS. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for your review, positive feedback is always appreciated and I love that I have been able to get my point across in the manner that I sought. I am not leaving quite yet, but it won't be long before I hit the original intended age for YWS members to step back.
Good luck with everything!!
this is a really inspirational poem! the bittersweet reality that all good things must come to a resolution eventually really resounds throughout the few lines here. I've just barely joined and, as the title suggests, i feel like the poem was directed right at me. It's a sad, but encouraging way to be welcomed to YWS. but coming of age brings so many new things to write about, and by what I can see, you have enough potential to do some really great things. good luck and great job!
Thank you! I am glad I could share this with you and that you liked it. Welcome to YWS, I hope you get as much from this site at I have over the years.
