I'm gay but I've never told my parents, and I probably never will. My dad doesn't even support anti-bullying against gays and lesbians and says that they're sinners and should be treated as such, which if ANYONE has read the bible they know that that statement is something of the anti-christ and not the "all powerful loving lord." Either way, this is the conversation I wish I had the courage to have:
Hey mom, How are you?
You might want to sit down…
Wrong? No nothing,
Come look at what I found.
Look at these pictures,
Weren’t we so cute?
Playing in the park together,
Just me and you.
Look at this one over here,
Do you remember her?
Yeah, that one,
With us rolling in the dirt.
Yes mom, we were little,
We had so much fun.
I played with her all summer long,
And whenever school was done.
Well, I’m still friends with her,
And we still play all day.
What do you mean “Dyke?”
That’s not a nice thing to say
She’s a sweet girl and I love her,
Please don’t be so rude.
I know you don’t agree with her,
But what did she ever do?
Listen mom, I won’t hear this trash,
I have something to say.
That girl you see, in that picture there
She is my fiancé.
Yes mom, I’m sorry.
Your little girl is gay.
Hey there,
So, I was going to review this, but I couldn't think of anything constructive to say. I like it, all of it. Simple, but wonderful.
And, well, I couldn't just pass by without leaving a message of support. I'm sorry that you're in this situation, and I hope you have other people in your life who are more accepting of your sexuality - or that you find some soon enough.
xx
I do not wish to start an ugly internet fight, so if anyone replies to this, I'm not replying back, sorry.
But I would like to say that you are speaking very harshly towards your parents. There is a such thing as "love the sinner, hate the sin" which means that no, it is not hate to say that you believe that something is wrong or immoral. It doesn't mean they don't love you, it means that they think that the lifestyle is wrong. Isn't it rather hateful of you to trash them for thinking what you do is wrong? It is a choice that you freely choose, not who you are and what you can't help being, and that is why it is not hateful or bullying to say to you that what you do is wrong.
Nice. This was ingenious, turning a conversation into a poem and however could you figure out how to rhyme like that? I liked it, a LOT and I hope you have the courage to tell your parents that you're gay.
Even if you tell them, what can they do? They can't cuss you down or beat you down because your sexuality turned different for some reason... What's happened , has happened, and they have to frigin deal with it.
Anyway,...the poem!
Stanzas are important! A rhyme scheme is there, so I will forgive you...

Kay? Overall I think it's really good that you can express your emotions like that... Not many of us can. It's a gift really!
And I don't want to mess with this piece anymore cause it's heart-felt...from your heart...
So, good luck, and keep writing!
