I'll invent a challenge for myself called the weekly Lady Spark review.
This one, at the moment, is my favorite. I can't say this enough: the way you write your images is so beautiful. And here you chose a lexical field that I'm not accustomed to but a subject I can understand. You intertwining the two made for a lovely and powerful poem. I'm in awe.
"Who can say I love before the fire burns out?"
Your voice shines through, your heart breaks out. You have a poetic tongue and a very personal story. I'm so happy to have discovered your poems. I'll look out for more.
thanks for the review, friend!!! <3
When I read poetry I try to interpret a meaning. This one really made me struggle! I had to sit for a minute and think about the writing. So, here is what I interpreted! What I saw in this was a young man who is talking to his mother. The young man is not used to the Midwest and how things are over there. He is telling his mother he feels as if he doesn't belong there yet, he wants to stay. He also seems to miss his mother very much. If I'd read this without knowing what the title was, I'd probably think he was talking to his lover. I really enjoyed this poem and can't wait to read more of your work!
