Dancing Monkey

In A Knave for A Laugh

I am the dancing monkey!

I inspire charity from up above

Though they don’t inspire me that much

I sing and I dance for all the lords

And all their mighty egos

For I am the dancing monkey!

I boast the crudest of personalities

Shame that I don’t have much of one

They spur me on and humour my shortcomings

The source of Schadenfreude

Oh, I am the dancing monkey!

I am the embodiment of comedy

Though I don’t really find them funny

I am poked around with a laughing stick

Though no –one laughs when I poke back

Oh, I dance!

I scream!

I dance!

I dance all night!

Dance with me all night!

Be a dancing monkey with me!

I am the eternally dancing monkey!

Hiya,
Just thought that I would start of by saying that I really like this!
It was under lyrics so I felt like I had to mentally come up with a tune for it. I wonder if you had a tune in mind when you were writing it, if so what was it?
I feel like though it seems all cute and about dancing monkeys that maybe it has some underlying messages which are a bit more serious, which is really clever :)
But at the end of it I feel bad for the monkey, being made to conform to all these peoples wishes, and am left wondering, is it really about a monkey, or am I just looking too far into it by thinking that it's not. And I think the uncertainty about it is what makes this great.
So all in all. I love it. :)

I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to (A short person who uncontrollably dances?) so I might do this wrong:
Put commas and periods instead of just exclamation marks. And don't put too much exclamation marks, it usually ruins writing if used too much. You're also using "I'm a dancing monkey!" too much, so it sounds weird. I see this is labeled "lyrics" so if this is a song, I recommend you to make it have it organized and probably longer. Late welcome to YWC, though!
