Birthday Cheers

20 years of time YWS has been home to over 54,788 users. We've been blessed with the stories, poems, roleplays, and much more from these users along the way. So many good memories! From The YWS Olympics, review events, Napos, Novmos, And everything in between we've seen the spirit of YWS community and creativity shine through.

And I know YWS has each touched us in a special way and holds a special place in each of our hearts. For this event I invite you to share your favorite memories from YWS and shoutout some of your favorite people here.

These guys (among others!) have made YWS such a fun place and helped me so much, and they are all so talented and absolutely awesome!

I haven't been here long enough to have too many memories...But I would say some of my favorites are Spooktober, LSS, and my first Review Day. Lots of fun!!

I think the best memory is this day that started a friendship with my best friend. And writing this together.

Also thank you @Spearmint for letting me talk to you about deep sinks and Duolingo and for writing this and this and this and this and this and others with me! You are such a good friend.

@Skyvibes, you are a really kind person and I love talking with you! @Elektra I have so many amazing memories working on SBs with you in pads and laughing so hard that I could not breathe! @chrysanthemumcentury I loved playing roblox with you so much! @vampricone6783 I have such good memories reviewing a lot of your amazing stories during review month and the great tortoise race! @spunkyspacekitty and @momonster i miss you so much! @twiggy you were one of the first people I met on YWS and you have always made me feel so welcomed! @Dossereana I also have a lot of great memories talking to you in WFP and you are a very nice friend! @OrabellaAvenue you have made YWS so much more supportive and always give the best compliments that make my whole day! @RavenAkuma you animals are seriously the cutest ever and also, you are such a hard worker and great friend!!!

Happy birthday, dear YWS! I was there to see your 10th birthday celebration, and just like that it's your 20th :0

Some memories that immediately come to mind:

The first review I ever received (from @BrumalHunter) totally blew my mind and ensured I'd be sticking around for a while! Hunter and I had a couple "competitive" review days which was a blast.

I always really enjoyed the birthday trivia game @Rydia would host in the chatroom on 11/14 <3 I'm sporting an old avatar in honor of Team Monkeys, who will forever triumph over Team Dragons!!

The two completed storybooks I was a part of, Animorphers and The Outlands, was RPing fun at its finest! Thank you @Lefty and @soundofmind and all the other talented folks who contributed and had WFP collabs with me! :3

Happy birthday YWS! I can’t believe it’s been almost five years (almost two weeks until my fifth cake day >.>)! I cannot tell you how incredibly grateful I am to have found this website; joining YWS was one of the best choices of my life. I have made lifelong friends and experiences. I’d like to thank everyone I’ve ever encountered here for adding a little joy to my life, especially if we’ve worked together on a storybook, event, as moderators, or just liked each other’s posts on the People’s Tab. I can’t wait for twenty more years with the amazing YWS community and platform! :)

Literally @alliyah is keeping me afloat through a dry season. The power of showing love is crazy, man.

I have so many favorite YWS memories, one of the random ones that makes me smile is when we did the great big YWS family picture and each user shared like bitmoji versions of ourselves to put in a big beautiful collage put together by @Arcticus and @trashykawa here. <3 unfortunately the link to the picture seems to have broken @_@ but I'm sure I have it saved in my yws files somewhere, I'll have to look for it!

oh celery. where do i even start? perhaps not at the beginning, but at the present.
i've been super busy with college, and as usually happens when i'm away from yws for a while, i got a bit stressed knowing that notifications were piling up. and i felt a little disconnected, because i know i haven't been as active, and so i'm not caught up on the latest happenings. but when i finally sat down to catch up on stuff, i saw the birthday threads, and i was hit by a breeze of nostalgia. it reminded me how much i love this site.
thank you, @EllieMae, for posting screenshots of wfps. i wasn't there for those specific moments, but i've seen so many silly wfp shenanigans and i know how it feels to stare at the colors on the screen, laughing until you can hardly breathe, feeling so much closer to these people behind the screen than physical distance could ever indicate. i know how it feels to add lines to collab poetry and create something beautiful together, to commiserate with each other about our tiredness, to just vibe in a wfp with fellow writers.
i love seeing people post writing memes on their walls. i am so inspired by everyone's projects and sometimes i wish i could stop time so i could read through everything on this marvelous site.
as for people, i am eternally grateful to have met so many amazing writers and beings here. @EllieMae, i enjoy talking to you so much, and you have a wonderful way of making others feel at ease. i can't believe we've collabed on five things already?? here's to many more! :3 @JazzicusMaximus bro. over 120,000 words in less than three months? that's the craziest i've ever gone with writing, and i'm v proud of our finished duo. i'll always treasure those memories of late-night writing (and sobbing, and laughing until my lungs hurt). thank you for being an epic writing partner, and here's to many more words together <3 @chrysanthemumcentury you may claim the honor of introducing me to a lifetime love of conlangs. =P you've called some of us older sisters, but to be honest, i think i've learned more from you. never stop writing poetry and being the awesome person you are. @WeepingWisteria my first completed duo! i have this really specific memory of writing a post for our rp duo while walking into a hotel?? so uh, yeah, thanks for making rping so fun i rped while on vacation XD i admire your poetry a ton too :3 @Elektra you offered me words of appreciation when i needed them most, and i'll never forget that. i wish you the best, always ^^ @Omni i don't know how you consistently come up with such cool rp ideas. what a legendary dm. and a cool person and mod to boot :> @winterwolf0100 @SilverNight @ScarlettFire y'all are rp legends. @LuminescentAnt i love your creativity and wit. @ToastK you are genuinely such a cool person. i'm kinda mindblown whenever i see your art and conlangs =P @IcyFlame @RavenAkuma @Roxanne @NadyaStatham gen lit!!! i appreciate you all so much :'D thank you for being the lovely human beings you are. @alliyah i don't think we appreciate you enough. please know that all you do for yws makes such a positive impact on everyone here! @Snoink @Liminality @Plume @ anyone who's ever reviewed my stuff. thank you, from the bottom, sides, and top of my heart. if i end up publishing anything in the future, i will credit you all, because you've helped me grow so much as a writer. @starlitmind @Euphory i miss you.

As someone who's relatively new here, I don't have as much old time black&white memories, but I still have a lot of precious moments.
Even yesterday, I had some of the most fun I've had in weeks just because I whimsically decided to join a wfp session.
My favorite memory so far has been when I drew for other people (especially when they drew/gave me something back in return!), and I would love to continue it! (my PMs are always open btw) Ironically, one of the best things about this site all about young writers is all the young (and old, aka anyone who's even a millisecond over the age of 18), talented artists! Not just drawing, but in terms of creativity, determination, and energy.

And now, to mention a couple cool people uhmmm
@RavenAkuma thank you for being one of the first person to write a review on my very bad writings, you have welcomed me warmly to this site and I still can't believe I wasn't following you till like a couple weeks ago (so sorry about that..)

I have almost been here a year and this has been SUCH a great experience for me when it comes to connecting with people through my writing. This is an honest place where we can all share our thoughts and always expect kind responses.

I think my favorite memory has to be opening goodolnoah’s reviews!
It helped me push myself out of my comfort zone by reading things that I might not usually read! It warmed my heart to know I was helping out other writers who wanted some constructive crit.
I have to shoutout @RavenAkuma for just being an awesome person all around. You read my stories all the way to the end and offered some wonderful critique along the way. I see ya responding to my posts as they trickle in the following page ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )
Also @Elektra for posting banger stories all-around. It is always a pleasure to catch up on your writing, and you helped me improve my own craft while also introducing me to more about greek mythos and making some cool characters along the way!
@ToastK for having such a beautiful artstyle and just general style when it comes to writing. You also just come off as such a cool person ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

This site helped me reinvigorate my passion for writing and gave me a safe space to share and read amazing work. You are all amazing!

I may not have been on YWS that long compared to other users, but I already have a lot of great memories with this place. The Young Writers Society is a unique community and I'm incredibly happy to be a part of it
I'm not sure I can name all the fantastic people who are sailing these waters in the same writing boat as me… there are so many of us and you are all amazing! If I were to start naming all the people, we're here for two more weeks and I'll probably forget someone anyway...
And congratulations, our dear YWS! You are a great and special place where young writers can feel welcome. So, I wish you the best for your holiday - may new users continue to increase, may old ones not leave you with a grudge in their hearts, and in general, may you continue to be a virtual home for all our work. Well, since I've never been congratulated twice, I'll end it with a simple one: All the best!

Okay, so, I will try to name as much of amazing people I wanted to mention as possible. @Spearmint is first person who came to my mind, followed by @EllieMae @Snoink @Kaia @Inferno ... And list continues! @OrabellaAvenue , @Quillfeather @alliyah @Moonlily are first like 10 people I can think of...but as I said, there is a lot of great people. Like, really lot.

I'm also a relatively new member here, and late 😅 so I don't have that many ancient memories of yws to dig out, but I still love this site a lot!! Everybody here is so amazing and supportive and friendly! It's amazing to be a part of such a beautiful society full of like minded book-loving people! One memory I definitely have is that when I first joined this site I was very nervous and confused and formal as it was (still is!) my first time on an online site/community and now I'm so much more comfortable I've let my weird slightly crazy side out XDDD

I would also like to shout out some amazing humans who've helped me and welcomed me here! @ToastK for being the first person to review my work and be so helpful and friendly! @RavenAkuma and @Spearmint and @Kaia and @RangerofIthilien and @EllieMae and @Elektra and @farq4d for being immensely welcoming and sweet, helping me out with the site and giving such amazing, helpful and encouraging reviews on my works and being a great presence on the site overall! And so many, many, many more users who've all been so friendly and patient! You're all amazing, fun people and I'm so glad you're all on YWS!!!

It is so so hard to do shutouts because in your own way i love each and every one of you and you reading this make the site so so much better because you're here. But I hate to not shout anyone so if i don't tag you it's not because i don't love you and value it's just that I can't write a post that long.

So without further ado and without any real order here we go!

First I have to shout out my best friend in the whole wide world @EllieMae from the moment we met in 2021 i knew we would be good friends and 4 years later I certainly wasn't wrong about that. You make my life worth the living and thank you for supporting me in everything I do. SO glad you joined YWS<3

Next I have to shout out @fatherfig because you have been the best YWS big bro over even though we aren't actually related the caring you have given me has been such a blessing - you've known me since my first day on YWS and everyday since has been better because I know you.

And then we have @LadyMysterio You have been a good friend to me and like an older sister in many ways. Thanks for looking past the person I may uh.. be related to... and being a wonderful and supportive friend to me<3

I have to give a big shout out for @alliyah you are not only a good friend but a good leader and mentor. You are such a good GM and the guidance you have given me to become a JM myself is something I really apricate. Thank you for all you do<3

And of course to a few of you that have joined in the last few years and been hanging out in WFP with me I want to shout out @Kaia @theromanticchemist @Skyvibes @RangerofIthilien @ToastK @Avian @electra @Chrysanthemumcentury I feel like you guys are always hanging out in wfp and I know I've had some incredibly awesome conversations with you and it's awesome that we can all have this place to hang out and talk.
