The World is Grey

The world is grey, not black or white,

No wrong to flee, no truth to fight.

Just muted skies and silent ground,

Where even echoes don’t resound.

The red once burned behind my eyes,

Now dull as ash beneath the lies.

The blue that used to flood my chest

Is just a fog that will not rest.

The green that bloomed in early spring

No longer stirs or dares to sing.

The yellow joy, the orange flame,

All colors fade, all feel the same.

I walk through days that blur and bend,

Each one a start that feels like end.

No highs, no lows, no need to cry,

Just watching time and letting it slide.

The world is grey, and so am I.

Not broken.

Just too tired to try.

Hey hoppity hop, I'm going to review your work because I know you won't judge me on how bad my reviews are. Into the review.
This is amazing! You have such a talent for poems and I'm so proud of you. This poem is perfect, it's not super emotional or happy, it's numb and gets the authors point across perfectly.

"The world is grey, and so am I.

Not broken.

Just too tired to try."

This is my favorite part of the poem, it shows how the author isn't broken or sad, just to tired to care about the greyness (thats what I picked up)
anyway, you are so talented, keep up the great work! Mwah Mwah

Hey hop! I loved this poem and it really spoke to me. I felt like I truly connected to the speaker and I loved the way the metaphor of the colors being gray added depth and emotion. The description of the faded colors and the time blurring together felt very authentic and complete. This poem felt raw and honest and I related so well to this one because I have had this feeling before and I think you captured it really well. You took an emotion that can be hard to explain and put it into words.

The poem was very fluid and well constructed. The words were easy to understand but still helped carry the meanings and emotion across. The word choice helped create the tone of the poem and gave it a somber feel.

I love all of your poems and am so excited to see what you come up with next. Good job and keep writing! Luv u so much bestie! ❤️

I really connected with this poem because it felt very grounded and real. The way the speaker talked about the world turning grey made me think of times when life feels drained of emotion. I thought the use of fading colors was a really good way to show that feeling. Red, blue, green, yellow — all of them losing their meaning and turning into grey — that made the numbness easy to picture.

What stood out to me was how calm and honest the tone was. The speaker wasn’t saying they were destroyed or completely hopeless. They were just saying they were tired, which feels very relatable. Sometimes life doesn’t hit you with extreme highs or lows. Sometimes it just wears you down until every day feels the same. I think a lot of people know that feeling, even if they don’t always talk about it.

The part that really stayed with me was the ending: “Not broken. Just too tired to try.” It’s short, but it really gets the point across. It shows that exhaustion can feel just as heavy as sadness. I’ve felt that way before myself, where you’re not exactly falling apart but you also don’t have the energy to care anymore.

I think this poem does a great job of capturing that quiet, drained state of mind. It made me reflect on times in my own life where I felt like a husk just going through the motions. The writing didn’t overcomplicate the feeling, which is why it felt so real to me. Overall, I thought this was a powerful and honest piece, and I appreciated the way it gave words to an experience that’s hard to describe.

Hello Hop! Mph here, back to review another of your very-cool-not-cute poems!

Every one of your poems is better than the last! I really like how, at first, you use the color gray to represent that life is more complicated than most people think, and that everything isn't black and white or good and evil as is often assumed. However, as you go on, you give gray another meaning: apathy and exhaustion. These themes seem very different, but you tie them together well in this work.

My favorite part of this work is when the speaker describes each "color" or emotion they used to feel, and how they have now lost it. I feel like repetition is a really good tool to use when writing poetry, and you use it well. This poem brings up a lot of questions, that I think can be interpreted in a number of ways: Was the speaker once some kind of activist, hence why they mention anger and "fighting for truth"? What made the speaker finally stop caring? Is the speaker a character separate from you, or is it you speaking in the poem?

Overall, I like this poem very much, definitely my favorite so far out of all your work!

Hey, cutie!
This is Alex, back to review yet another one of your fabulous poems. Let's dive right in!

This is such an artistic concept! I'm very impressed with what what you've done here. Words phrased so well it appears almost like a painting, which is gradually losing its colours. To me, for things to turn grey means to get emotionally numb to the point where you don't enjoy the beautiful things the world has to offer. It's a synonym for depression and losing hope for optimism- truly shattering.

No wrong to flee, no truth to fight.

A philosophical take on colours?! Your mind works extraordinarily, Hop!
It's so rich in symbolism. I think it signifies corrupt done under the disguise of a noble cause- I find the description really first. But this is just my personal interpretation for it.

Just muted skies and silent ground,

You could've used 'dull' and called it a day but nope. You really had to nail your word choice, it really fits so much better. I'm speechless!

The red once burned behind my eyes,
The blue that used to flood my chest

From how they're presented, I believe the red and blue here don't refer to good feelings, but unwanted ones. I think the red is hatred but I can't make out the blue- perhaps sadness in the heart? The grey has killed even these ill emotions, which offers a striking contrast to its previously villainous role of being the one responsible or nature's fading hues. In a way, it's impartial - draining colours from every aspect of life equally. This offers the reader, at least, a slight peace.

The green that bloomed in early spring
No longer stirs or dares to sing.
The yellow joy, the orange flame,
All colors fade, all feel the same.

This was my favourite part. The way you personify green is so mesmerising and even the description of the warm shades was incredibly vivid. Everything has grown monotonous now, to a singular grey.

No highs, no lows, no need to cry,

This makes me think how we really need both to actually live, take your heart line for example! Constant may seem an ideal phase, but there is no curse greater than static.

The world is grey, and so am I.
Not broken.
Just too tired to try.

Impeccable closing lines! You're really getting good at this.

All in all, this was my favourite poetry you've written this far. The rhymes are really intricate and actually belong. The flow is so effortless that I got immersed in the narrative. It's such a unique idea, all the colour draining out of human life. It sounds like a nightmare to me! But it seems to have such a deeper meaning of struggles and despair, it's surprising to see the poem float despite the theme's sheer weight. Applause worthy work! It has been honour reading and reviewing this, bless us with more poetry very soon please.

Your words portray the imagery neatly and "muted skies" especially..it hits hard for me...I sometimes feel that the life is monotonous too....almost boring while doing the same thing over and over again, and running towards the end....your lines "each one a start that feels like end" is ready heartbreaking...so I'm not an expert at the reviewing, but I feel this poem is amazing...but I just wanted to say that there's still hope left in the world, colour left to see...the flowers still bloom and there is beauty left to live for...
