The votes were tallied yesterday, and the new mayor is Gregory Fitzgerald. Just this morning, he released his first statement and the message was as follows:
"I want to thank all of you who voted for me, and I want to lock all that didn't in a small room with no light so that you slowly slip into insanity. But I won't. I'll be a good mayor. I have visions. For instance, I will remove the election process. In other words, you'll have me as mayor until I name a new mayor! I understand that I need permission from the Council, but instead I'll just fire them. Then I'll fire the entire printing facility! That way they can't influence you to dislike me! After that I'll kick out anyone who wasn't born here so that there's more jobs for the actual true citizens of Frost Lark!"
So this is it. He has fired us all, and this will be the last print of Frost Lark News.

As you might be aware, Sarah Lynn has disappeared. In fact, she was never seen. Even before she lost the election. And so, I must question where she is. Is she hiding from our new Mayor? Did Mayor Fitzgerald do something to her? Who knows? Not me. That's why I'm asking. Duh.

It has been fun working for this business. It has been fun all this time. But I cannot stay in a town with Fitzgerald as mayor. I refuse to call him Mayor Fitzgerald. He doesn't deserve the title. I'm leaving. I believe I will go somewhere different, like a desert. I hear there's a friendly desert community in America. Maybe I'll try going there. But thank you, readers, for supporting this business.

When I came to this town, there was no Newspaper. Everything was told to the citizens through children coming to your front door an informing you with sign language. I saw the problem with it, and I set out to fix it. The mayor, god bless him, supported me, and most importantly, you supported me. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Perhaps my new home in the desert will have no Newspaper, and I can create one. I'm sure their mayor will be supportive. She seems nice. Well, I guess this is it. My final paragraph in my final Frost Lark Newspaper on my final day in Frost Lark. I will miss all of you. Good bye.

The idea behind this novel seems to me obviously based on the current election held in America.
So, THE END part has a statement from the mayor at its ending. I much like the content of it, and how it portrays Gregory's personality well (to the point where I like him for being entertainingly dislikeable, if you know what I mean). So there's nothing to comment on that. Rather, the way it is presented, using italics, is something that makes me frown. I am not sure if you need to do that for dialogues, because even in the newspaper, when the reporter is quoting someone, they only use the quotation marks, not including the italics. Since it is the case here, it distracts me from truly focus in the dialogue.
From what I've read and watched about the American election, this is so true, in regards to one of the candidates. A newspaper who makes a surprise for endorsing the last person it would endorse? Very threatening and dangerous. The mayor is smart, I have to say, and extreme, and above all, a comedy material.
“WHERE IS SARAH LYNN?” part is rather weak. It would be nice to have more context to give a clearer connection between her disappearance and the election (before, during, after the process) instead of suggesting that the mayor might have something to do with her gone. And to be honest, I don't care much about her as I do mayor because we don't see much about her personality, unlike Gregory. As it is, this part is a rather unnecessary filler.
"THE END" (continued) also suffers the same issue with the previous part (it lacks elaboration). Why does Susan think Gregory doesn't deserve the title? What has he done (then the statement he's given) that makes her claim so? If the explanation is included, it would give more depth in this part.
Survey is 100% funny. The lack of option under the illusion of many options has never failed to amuse me. It doesn't relate to the previous strong enough, but it stands on its own in its ability to humour me.
First ADVERTISEMENT SPACE has two winning points, which are 1) the obvious attempt of Gregory (or those who support him) to eliminate those who support Sarah in a funny way, and 2) the connection between this space with the rest of the, um, newspaper? Podcast? Forgive my limited understanding. The second ADVERTISEMENT SPACE is a complete contrast of the first, unfortunately. It feels like one of the people who dislike Gregory putting an announcement he'll be gone. I assume that's the case, but since there's not enough details, the part is open to wide interpretation.
The last THE END (continued) wraps this edition nicely, delivering a message of how a mayor can support a newspaper depending on the allegiance of said newspaper. Realistic, relatable. Although Susan Graham is a fictional character, I wish her good luck on trying to create a new one in a new place, and that I truly support what she would do.
And that is all! I review this edition similar to how I review a story, so if the review should be adjusted to one that suits a newspaper, please inform me. I don't know how. I'm a noob. ;-; Jk. This edition overall is like worthy. Keep up the good job!

As I was copying and pasting the above sentence, I was thinking that I would say: Surely the headline shouldn't be THE END Shouldn't it be something that makes it obvious Fitzgerald has won? Like FITZGERALD NEW RULER or something along those lines. But then I thought, clearly the reporter believes he shall bring about doomsday. He will cause the end of the town, and that's why they used that headline.
As you might be aware, Sarah Lynn has disappeared. In fact, she was never seen.
Plot twist: Did she ever actually exist? Or did 'Gerald just use her as a 'fake' opponent so he'd be sure to win?
