Poetry

In Paragraph 1

I want to write poetry,

I don't know on what.

But do I want to rhyme

all around the clock?

-

Or do I feel like stanzas,

creating the form?

Paragraph upon paragraph

as the story rolls on.

-

But then there's imagery,

sparking in minds:

Similes and metaphors

as used as rhyme.

Don't forget the deep part,

there's always a meaning!

Depression, love, nature

or maybe just comedy.

At the end of the day

format isn't my thing.

I'll stick to free verse

because poetry is hard.

Lol, You by far was just being silly!!!! And dont take that the wrong way because life sucks with out all the laughs and giggles. Before I hope into my review let me just take a moment to bask in the funny and comedian side of you I hardly ever get to see. Thank you, and know with out further a due let's get into it, let's go.
I love this poem for obvious reasons. One we hardly ever get to see this side of you. It's rare, in fact if I didn't always talk to you in d.m.'s I would say you were border line scary. Which do not take that the wrong way because to write stories like Stephen King or Edgar Allan Poe, you have to be border line scary, which is why I still want your help with my horror novel. But enough about the scary lets talk about this awesome poem. It made me laugh a lot I loved how you used each type of poem in this as well. Genius! But it also made me think about life. We as people try to hard to put a title on what we are. Some want to be rhythm poems, while others want to be a sonnet, or stanza type poems. But I think I am like you. I think I will stay as a free verse poem. Make it up as I go along because life is to hard to try to understand so I am learning to stop trying to understand it and just let my life flow freely. Thanks again for such a wonderful poem.

Hi, godlypopo! Mage here to review your work! So let's get to it, shall we? :D

This poem is so relatable for me! As someone who tends to stick to short stories and novels, poetry is a difficult and foreign concept to me. Free verse and (strangely enough) sonnets are the only types of poetry that seem to really work with me.

There's only one thing you need to fix, and it's a nitpicky grammar thing.

Similes and metaphors
as used as rhyme.

"As" should be "are".

There's also one part that really stuck out to me (in a good way!).

Don't forget the deep part,
there's always a meaning!

That's a very true point about poetry. :D

I really enjoyed reading this poem. It was relatable, as I said earlier, and covered some of the basic points of poetry. Keep up the great work - which I doubt you'll have trouble with - and good luck on your writing endeavors! Have a great day/night! :D

Thano you!

You're welcome! :D

Hello there, godlypopo! I'm here to review your wonderful poem today (and I seriously need to figure out a better way to open one of my reviews, but this seems chronically cheesy, personally)!

...but yeah, as the above indicates, I like this poem. Nicely done! You do a good job of discussing concisely a lot of the key elements of what a poem constitutes, as well as the typical struggles that come with rhyming and formatting in general, particularly when it comes to its restrictive nature. The simplicity and bluntness of the poem are perhaps my favorite parts, as they communicate their message clearly while also trying to define what a poem is. Naturally, it would be impossible to define the nature of poetry itself, given its variations and complexity, but you do summarize a majority of rhetorical devices, major themes, and common elements found within poetry, which helps to pinpoint it a little bit more and emphasize what could be it. Thus, when it comes to the core theme and ideas of your poem, I'm impressed. Great job!

On the other hand, I must personally admit that this poem, though it did promote a lot of experimentalism and variation, and was a decent free verse poem, didn't exactly scream at me with creativity. Personally, while it did make a good effort to typify the nature of poetry, I think your point could've been communicated in a more elaborate, or at least vivid, fashion. Aim for the metaphors and similes you discuss, perhaps carry a general narrative while inserting your major themes on the nature of poetry. Perhaps this can be a meta-esque reflection of you attempting to write a poem in the middle of a quiet night, and spending time pouring through dictionaries and struggling to capture a rhyme scheme, before abandoning it in favor of a more open and adventurous style. It's just...I love the poem, but it felt a bit like it fell flat in trying to practice what it was preaching, so I'd advise messing around with the key elements of poetry and throwing your creative mind about - you never know what wonders could come of it.

But yeah, that's about all. My only other critique is that you work on your incorporation of commas within the poem, because there were a lot of lines with spaces that I felt could be appropriately expressed with commas, such as "depression, love, nature" and "paragraph upon paragraph." In that regard, I'd just suggesting reading your poem aloud and looking for areas where you naturally pause, and incorporating the appropriate mark (semicolon, dash, colon, comma, period, what have you). Otherwise, I loved this poem! It was fun to read from start to finish, and I enjoy the message that it communicates. Well done!

Thank you! I'll take your advice into consideration and probably write another, better one in the future :D

This was so clever, I just had to laugh at the end. I liked it.

I'd like to see more of different formats in it, longer lines for the free verse part, and strong rhymes for the beginning.

I don't know if that was what you were going for though.

I really liked this. It really captured poetry with a real funny twist. Was it meant to be funny? It was funny because it was so true!

I like it though. Great job and thanks for letting me give a brief review. Hope it isn't entirely useless XD

Have a great day!

Thank you! I might make another one with more formats or lengthen this one at a later date :D
