Every leaf is covered with frost;
Every blade of grass encased.
Dazzling beauty at no cost;
Marks another day to be faced.
I glide down the old deer path;
Barely half as wide as I.
Far away from man’s ugly wrath;
Deep within the mountains so high.
I climb up in the old tree stand,
Built by my dear grandfather;
Left to me with the land,
Along with a herd of deer to gather.
I haul up my trusty gun,
I’ve used so many years before.
All the memories of deer on the run,
Make me long to make memories more.
There I settle in for the wait,
As I watch the sun rise over yonder hill.
There is no bigotry, there is no bait;
All will be fair, if I make a kill.
Soon I see a dull brown deer,
On the trail and coming towards me.
She takes her time in coming near,
But I am as still as I could be.
My heart is racing as I see her go,
Directly below where I sit in the tree.
A shot I’d gladly take if I had my bow;
But too easy with my gun, she walks off, free.
I sit for hours in peaceful solitude,
Unwilling to let any man or beast,
Foul my perfect attitude.
Nothing bothers me in the least.
Heya, Shadow!

Nice poem, to say the least. XD My favourite line must have been the last one. It just cleaned up the poem really nicely. And so far, I saw no mistakes, spelling errors, misplaced punctuation marks or anything of the sort. So, props!
I also like the second to last one: How you just let her go. I don't know... it just got to me. Thank you for not killing that deer!
Another thing I loved in this poem was the expert use of imagery. Perfect, flawless, beautiful, vivid, but with no wasted words. It's really hard to get that effect.
I'd have to say that I really liked this stanza too.
It goes even deeper, and I appreciate people who can subtly hint on underlying important themes. Makes poetry easier for those not accustomed to it. Like I once was. O.O
Anyways, beautiful poem. Love the theme. Keep writing!
Thanks for the review, Aqua!
It was very flattering.
Grammatical errors are not a hinderance to how well the author has clearly portrayed his/her gift in showing how to put realism on paper. The lat stanza captured me most due to the fact that the author has shown that indeed peace is a stronghold that enables many to live without worry;challenges ought not to destabilize someone in their own way of living:according to their beliefs.
Well put!
