In Poetry

Words flashed across the screen,
back and forth we talked.
I stayed strong when you said you loved her.
And when I told you to be happy,
I ment it.

I said, "Buy her flowers."
but I never wanted flowers.
I told you to be patient, that she woud come.
But I was already there.
Oh how you were blind.

Then one day you said you liked someone.
I couldn't believe what was right in front of me.
You said it was secret, you who told me everything.
Why would you hide from me your secrets?
Then they truth came free.

But she was still there, in your heart and mind.
She never really left, even though you loved me too.
Still, we talked as if the words hadn't been typed.
Because love was too hard, too complicated, for us.

I will wait though, until one of us moves on.
For the day when you can forget aout her.
And the day when so can I.
Because she was not only your heart, but my best friend.
And so what we had was forbidden love.

Spoiler! :
Ok so I know this is horrible. It is my first draft and raw. My sentance lengths vary to much, my grammer is probably horrible, and dont get me started on my spelling. The thing is though, this just happened to me. Like an hour ago so when I write what I feel it comes straight from the heart. But please, feel free to rip it apart. But if in the off chance you like it please hit the buttun that says so :)

Ah, another love/brokenhearted poem. Well, let see what we've got here.
I've read one too many terrible love poems and I'm pleased to say that this wasn't one of them (yay! :D). It does need some work, however. You're right when you said it was raw. But I can see a glint of gold somewhere in there. All you have to do is melt it down a bit and refine it to make it shine.
This was good for a first draft (and first drafts are normally spawn of the devil himself :P). But you need to make it more consistent and more uniform. You vary the sentence structure too much as though you're trying to choose between too different styles. Pick one and go with it.
The biggest thing about doing the whole love theme is keeping it real. This seems like a real situation so you have a lot to go off of. Now make it even better. Pull me into the pain, the love, and the longing. I should feel wistful at the end. The best love poems can make the reader emotional (and the BEST can make guys emotional :P).

Hope that helps just a little; I'm no pro at giving good reviews. Pm me if you have any questions.

wow, that was a really great poem in my opinion.
i couldn't say anything negative about that, im sure many people will know how it feels in your position. Although i don't i can tell that your hurt but glad he is happy? that's how i perceived it anyway.
keep it up :)
